CHICAGO CUBS (Marshall) +150 over SAN DIEGO (Peavy)
The Padres squeezed out a 1-0 victory in extra innings last
night, but in case you haven't noticed, this is a terrible San
Diego team right now. They are only 5-11 (-$965) at Petco
Park, and have averaged just 3.5 runs per game in limited
action vs. lefthanders. Sean Marshall has been a superb
addition to the Cubs' rotation, leading Chicago to victory
in all five of his starts so far (+$565, 3.45 ERA). Jave Peavy
has not been displaying the form that made him so tough
the past couple of years (-$455, 4.58 ERA) so it's difficult
to understand why he is so heavily favored against a team
that is 11-7 (+$415) against righthanders. We'll take the fat
price on Chicago and their hot young lefty to even the series
with the underachieving Padres.
