Is this a joke? Steak? I guess it has to be a joke.

Sardines are the best bait for what you'll probably be fishing for down there, assuming you're not going far offshore. Grouper, Flounder, King Mackerel, shark etc...

Hire a charter or go on a party boat...

http://www.florida-keys.fl.us/fishing.htm

we caught nurse shark (catch and release) with live and dead shrimp and chunks of dead ballywho off a dock bayside.....ask at the bait shop if you are fishing the off the bridge in Marathon or walk out and ask anyone what kind of steak, I mean bait they are using

Drop off a beef tenderloin to me on your way to Marathon and I'll have all the Cobia ya want

I used to fish for cobia off the Ft. Worth pier when I was a kid. They had this real cool ribbon lure that we would catch bait fish with(I think they had a black spot on the back fin). Great fishing down there.

I miss fishing. :(

Nole,

Brother and a group were here in Feb., hired an all day Charter...caught alot of Cobia several King Mack. and a few yellow tail snapper...Mate filleted yellow tail, and a couple of small King Macks...big King Mack (to oily) and Cobia were gutted, tossed in a BIG Bucket and hauled off to the fish market, traded for ice and sold by the fish mkt to the FL Prison System, to be processed for inmate food...word at the Dock or a very smart Mate.

Good stuff. Nothing better than a group charter and then catching a ton of fish.

There were 6 of us once. We were under the Skyway bridge right after it collapsed in St. Pete(26 years.....Holy crap!). I thought I had snagged something. Line didn't move for a while. Turned out to be a 135 lb. Jewfish. Freaking huge! The Captain kept it.
