He didn't pitch tonight. Here's the story from his outing which was on Sunday.
SAN DIEGO -- Kerry Wood will make his second Minor League rehab start on Friday for Triple-A Iowa, and if all goes well, he could be inserted into the Chicago Cubs rotation five days later.
On Sunday, Wood struck out 12 over five innings and gave up one run and one walk for Class A Peoria in his first rehab start. He threw 70 pitches and all reports were good.
"I heard Woody threw outstanding," Cubs manager Dusty Baker said Monday. "He threw a dynamite fastball, electric breaking ball. He struck out a whole bunch of people and had great control. They gave him a standing ovation.
"It'd be a big plus to get Woody back," Baker said. "There's a chance we could get him back sharper than when he left. Who knows -- his career could take off. A whole lot of positives could come out of this."
Wood underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder in late August after appearing in 21 games in 2005. Baker would like to have the right-hander even earlier if possible but said they want to stay on course.
"You want to make sure he's right when he gets here," Baker said.
