Wow, that was the best catch I've seen in a long, long time....he might have a broken nose, just went full speed into the wall and held on to the ball...wow...

I didn't see the catch and I'm sure it was awesome. He did that rather often when he played here as well (the whole running into the wall thing).

A true center fielder may have had an easier time catching the ball.

Some players make plays seem easy.

unbelievable play. like io said, us southside fans have been watching him make big-time plays for a couple years. certainly an asset in many ways to a team to have a guy that will play the game that hard day in and day out. while not a superstar at the plate, there aren't many guys that are better for a team, all things considered.

Phillies CF Rowand placed on 15-day DL

May 12, 2006
PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) - Aaron Rowand's all-out play came at a price.

The Philadelphia Phillies' center fielder was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with a fractured nose and non-displaced fractures around his left eye.

Rowand suffered the injury making a spectacular running catch to halt a rally by the New York Mets in the first inning of a 2-0 rain-shortened victory on Thursday night. With two outs and the bases loaded, the 28-year-old slammed face-first into a metal bar in the center field fence after hauling in a drive from Xavier Nady.

Rowand, who has earned a reputation for getting his uniform dirty and throwing his body around the diamond, arose from the ground bloodied. He left the game and was admitted to a hospital to receive stitches.

In 33 games in his first season with the Phillies, Rowand is hitting .310 with 17 RBI.

To fill his spot on the roster, outfielder Chris Roberson was recalled from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre of the International League. Roberson has hit .287 with 19 runs scored and 12 stolen bases in 34 games.
