I have a question about the NBA timeclock that I can't quite figure out the answer to. After a team scores a bucket, the other team, of course, gets the ball. Sometimes the clock runs straight through during this 2-3 second transition and, then, at other times I see it stop and wait for the inbounds pass to be thrown. Is there a rule on this? Timekeeper's discretion? Different with less than 5 min to play ?? What determines if the clock is run straight thru? I cant figure it out. Anyone ?

I think under 2 minutes the clock stops every time a team makes a bucket...either 2 minutes or 1 minute

i agree that they have been inconsistent on this. there have been quite a few times when they have been 2-3 seconds late in starting the clock.
