Lets see if I can nail down a very large play today.
Detroit Tigers EVEN vs the Tribe.
Maroth has pitched very well in the past vs. the tribe and shut them out in April. In fact going back to last year he has only given up 7 runs in his last 4 starts against Cleveland.
On the other hand, the tribe's Johnson has been a very consistent pitcher as of late, consistently horrible.
In his last three starts Johnson has gone a total 13 innings allowing a staggering 29 hits and 17 runs.
I also like the fact that the tribe looked lost at the plate last night and lefty Maroth should be able to take Hafner's big stick out of play. If Martinez rests today as he sometimes does on Sunday, that would be another plus. Umpire Barksdale behind the dish is know as a pretty good pitchers ump and I like that as well.
For all of this I get the Tigers at even money today. This is very much a play of the year type play for me GO TIGERS!!!
