MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- With Jose Contreras on the disabled list
and Jon Garland and Javier Vazquez each getting tagged for seven
runs in the first two losses here, the Chicago White Sox will
need a major boost from Mark Buehrle on Sunday when they
continue a four-game series with the Minnesota Twins.
Despite allowing just two runs and seven hits against Kansas
City last Sunday, Buehrle (3-2, 3.66 ERA) is 0-2 over his last
three outings. But the 26-year-old Buehrle was brilliant in his
only start against the Twins this year, surrendering just one
run on four hits in eight innings in a 7-1 triumph on April 21.
Minnesota will counter with Carlos Silva (2-5, 8.23), who
snapped his four-game slide on Tuesday, allowing four earned
runs and 11 hits in six frames against Texas. The 27-year-old
righthander has a 5.33 ERA with 11 home runs in eight career
starts against Chicago. :mj15:
Luis Castillo scored three runs as the Twins won their fourth
straight game with an 8-4 triumph on Saturday.
With a victory, Minnesota will extend its winning streak to five
straight games.
