why wont the coaches foul

I am a firm believer in the foul if ur up 3.
Many coaches don't do it.
Anyway why put a 6 footer on a 6'4 dude.
Put a taller singleton in that corner 3. Ewing? give me a break, if ur not gonna foul at least put a taller dude to contest that 3. Like shooting over a chair///

I think you guys are crazy. . . there's 3 seconds left in the game. Obviously whoever catches the ball will fire a three so if they tried to foul, it would have been free throws without a doubt. Don't even sit there and tell me they had time to foul Bell before he took that shot. Not a chance. Ball was in the air within a split second after he got it.

they had time and the ability to foul bell he caught the ball and still had to turn toward the basket.....enough time to foul
kenny smith finally said the right thing....either foul or PLAY THE THREE POINT LINE.....these idiots are guarding the man......WHY? play all 5 defenders outside the three point line and force them to take a shot 2-3 feet beyond the line or play a zone with all 5 defenders outside the three point line.....how many clippers were inside the three point line when phx was inbounding the ball three...four.....WHY?

See, the Clippers players are all saying the same thing: Bell caught the ball behind the 3 point line and put it up immediately. No time to foul. Nothing you can do except avoid fouling Bell and try to block the shot. He simply made an incredible shot. No further discussion needed on this one.

This discussion is about fouling; not guarding against the three point line! LOL. . .
Anyways SpursDynasty, Bell pushed off his defender and stepped back for the 3 point shot. There was no time to run into Bell. There was simply no reason at all to foul in that particular situation as it happened. That's all I'm trying to say.

yes bell pushed off to get free.....but he still had to catch, turn, square then shoot....probably took a full second and a half.....the clippers had a chance to foul before he went up for a shot if that was their plan ahead of time
in the end....the strategy to foul not foul is always brought up (usually more so in college) and i cant understand why its even a debate....FOUL.....all i hear from coaches is "well the only chance we have to lose the game is to foul...they make 1-2 ft...they get an offensive rebound then kick it out for a three to win the game"......like that scenario is more likely to happen than watching the opponent hit a three force ot and win in the ot (just like tonight)
if and when a coach does foul and that scenario happens he will be crucified and probably fired.....i just hope that coach has the balls to call out all the games where some pussy coach didnt foul watched a three be canned then lost in ot.....guarantee that happens 100x more often
