I no nothing when it comes to the mechanics of cars and trucks. It is a 1995 ,f-150,auto,4x4, air,v8,302. had the trans looked at after it was leaking, worked great for a wk,found a small leak, that was the lines from the trans to the radiator, he replaced the lines and the truck, worked for 1 day before it would not engage in drive. I have park and reverse and no leaks. I no enough to not run it low on fluid, it was running great even with the first leak, but I just wanted to get it fixed. I don't trust this guy.

It's an E40D. There was no slip and the leak was minor, it was not like it was starting to go.it just went. It is an old truck that has been taken cared of since I bought it new. has 140,000 on it. It seems like somthing is just not hoked up. I pulled a boat about 5 times with it, don't plow with it, only use the 4x4 in the winter for snow driving.

well if it was working before it should be working again, make sure the fluid level is correct. check it warm on level ground with the engine running. the problem sounds like a clutch pack problem. but if it is low on fluid it can cause this problem also.

The truck was working great after the first time this guy worked on it, but I still had 2 small leaks, I brought it back and he replaced the lines to the radiator and replaced the pan gasket and filter and the trouble started.

A clutch pack problem in an automatic ????????
Just for clarity, there are clutch packs in an automatic tranny. When the clutch packs wear, the tranny fails to engage, causing slippage. That's the metal sludge you find in the bottom of the pan when you change the fluid.

ok now see u failed to mention u had the tranny serviced in the first message u wrote. i cannot remember how this effects a ford tranny but if the o-ring or gasket was left out when replacing the filter when servicing the tranny it will cause engaging problems. that could be a nother possiblity.

I found out that my trans is the (AoDE ). was told that it was the E40D. He put the wrong filter in it. Would the wrong filter burn it for good or do I have a chance that the right filter will work.

anyone out there have a general knowledge of them ? or just transmissions ?

my condolences (very sincerely to you) for having to deal with all this horse chit you have posted. I'm sorry I can't help you. It's so frustrating feeling as if you were taken advantage of plus the fact you have a down vehicle. Lots of smart guys here, hope somebody can help. GL!

well the wrong filter would make a huge diff. i was somewhere near were the problem was after u said u had the tranny serviced. but didnt take into account that the wrong filter was installed. it should not cause any terminal damage only problem should be the one that occured from wrong filter. be sure he is willing to take responsiblity for the trans if something does occur. but u should know within the first week of usage if there is a problem.

mechanics make mistakes. but he should have easily identified what trans ur vehicle has by the vin number. u should be ok though.
