Why did Avery Johnson and the Dallas brass choose to slow the pace of the game so much. I realize they lost Terry for this game but someone needs to let coach Johnson know that Howard, Stackhouse, Harris etc etc are much more effective in a fast paced game.

If you were to ask me for a blueprint for San Antonio success tonight then the way Dallas choose to play the game could not have been drawn up better than what Dallas did.........slow the game to a crawl even when you have a lead for the most part of the game. I guess I just dont know why Dallas didnt approach this game the same way they did in game 2 and that was to run, run and run.........and I dont buy the fact they couldnt have played this way even without Jason Terry........he only played 25 minutes in game 2 and they were successful, so I dont buy the fact they could'nt have run tonight............

I dont think avery planned on Harris missing 7, i repeat 7, let me repeat 7 layups when it was a fast paced penetrating game. I do agree Mavs should have pushed the tempo but lets not blame Avery when brickhouse was 2 for 11 or something and Howard didnt look for his shot and Harris, well he looked like a 5 round draft pick tonight. Im trying not to hate on him to bad because he has been essential for Dallas but wow he was soooooo bad.

Yeah...you make a great point........Harris and Stackhouse go a combined 7-29..........but remember a lot of these shots were in a half court setting after running the shot clock down to under 10 seconds.........not exactly the situation you want either of these guys in especially when SA just doubled Dirk every time.......

Just thought Dallas would have been better off just playing a running fast break type of game as they did in games 2,3 and 4.............

You make a good point as well about the effectiveness of those guys in a half court setting, not optimal, probably a mix of off night and not pushing the tempo.

Who do you think will win game 7. Spurs fans on here might think this isa stupid question but I honestly think Dallas goes in there and gets it done, the reffing I thought was fair and I think it will stay that way. Mavericks almost put spurs away without their second best player, once Terry is back and I will garuntee he wont miss 7 layups.

I would like to see Dallas win......but to be honest Duncan is such a load and seems to never have a bad game in these situations, so its going to take a monster effort......good teams usually win at home in these situations. I recall late in the season when Dallas was neck and neck with SA for home court advantage and Dallas could'nt win at Golden State or Phoenix when neither of those tearms were playing for a thing......wins in games like those may have meant this 7th and deciding game would have been in Dallas..........after all that i think the mavs can win but the home team in 7th games have been money on the ml..........i cant help but think dallas wasted a golden opportunity tonight...........

My thoughts on Game 6:

Terry not being there, played a major role tonight. Terry MIGHT have cost his team the season and lifetime punch to the nuts with Mavs confidence in the playoffs (no pun intended).

1. Stackhouse is not made for a starter. Especially when Bowen makes him look terrible and has to hoist a lot of missed shots.

2. Harris can't be a slasher and a PG at the same time. Wihtout Terry his game became confused and his numbers showed. This may be a huge factor to Harris's psyche going into game 7. Not a good time to have your confidence level down to the basement at this time.

3. Ginobili carried the Spurs tonight.

4. Duncan was Duncan.

5. 82% of the home teams win game 7.

If it wasn't for the refs the Spurs would have swept Dallas, right?

i will say this about the series and refs for my 2 cents since i try to stay out of the reffing deal 99.9% of time ...

but biggest call of series of TD's block/charge in game 4 with spurs up 5, they wouldve had ball with app. 2 mins and instead they ref missed call and called block, Dirk had 2 FTs, and then the T on Finley (now 2 pt game) ... game goes OT and that was classic BS penalizing the team that was ahead ... Been thru and suffered that untold times as a coach ... Even in HS calls generally go to trailing team in closing minutes ... so that said, it didnt surprise me Spurs lost that KEY call of series, thats just how it goes ... Spurs are my fave team but now they have a game 7 at home and will have hands full ... tough one to bet ML or not

that said, JT being ruled out prob cost mavs game 6 ... so let's say it's about even now

Notice how you never mentioned how many FT's the Spurs got compared to Dallas.........but of course you were sure whining when you thought the ref's sucked in games 3 and 4.......

Is'nt it funny how that works out........when it goes your way its not even mentioned but when it goes against you ......you are right there to point it out......

Game 2 Spurs got beat badly. Refs played no part in that. I admitted that. You obviously think I am just saying the refs were horrible just because they lost. That is not the case. I am a realist. no bullsh!t, in games 3 and 4 the mavericks were the only team in nba history to be allowed to have 8 players on the court at all times

those games were beyond poorly officiated, they were a mockery of basketball.
