I hear ya gman- you do a good job. I know its opinions and everyone will have different opinions. It is a long series and anything can happen. My pick to win the whole enchilada is the MAVS-but who knows. I do know that Dallas was the better team in the spurs series and deserved to win. Good Luck!!

I think that Miami just looked like they came to play tonight. Like Riley said, Pistons defense wasn't bad, Heat just made great shots. If Gary Payton and Antoine Walker keep playing like they are their old all star selfs then Pistons are in trouble. Problem is, Antione will start jacking it up before he crosses half court next game and when was the last time any of us have seen GP move like that. And we probably wont again.

Before everyone starts jumpin on the Pistons Suck bandwagon, realize that this happened last year, and these two are going to trade shots.
Only thing that worries me is Flip Saunders has had, IMO, the greatest player in the NBA for over half a decade and didnt do much with him, or put anything around him, or make consistent adjustments or plays for him. (KG). If Larry Brown were still with the Pistons I would pound the Pistons series price right now, but it remains to be seen what adjustments Flip Saunders will be able to make. Remember that a very solid Twolves made the playoffs like 4 or 5 years in a row with very respectable reg season records and only got out of first round once.

Everyone claims Dallas can't play D, LOL. They shut down the highest scoring them (Memphis). Avery knew he couldn't beat
SA in the half game so he went with a all out run and gun game.
For sure, the series with Pho will tell the tale on Dallas. If they can't play D, then they will get beat.

Memphis..........????
The highest scoring team.........are you talking about the Memphis Grizz.......

Something just does'nt seem right with the Pistons so far in the playoffs...........to be honest I was not that impressed with them in the Milwaukee series.
I cant quite put my finger on it but what I have noticed tonight and in the Cavs series is that they sure struggle to score at times........

I dont think this was a noticed as much in the past when they were playing very (and I mean very solid defense).....remember some of their opponents would be lucky to get in the high 60's in the past couple of years.........but now when there defense is not as sticky it becomes magnified..........

Unless they can revert to the defense of past editions.....then I think they are history......remember the Cavs were not a offensive powerhouse so all they had to do was hold LeBron in check but now the teams left have more than 1 major scorer so to me its defense or bust for the Pistons...........

Another "red flag" for me is the fact that they come out in game five with Cleveland, Game 7 1st half vs Cleveland and tonight and just dont seem ready to play...........maybe they just are the "hungry" team anymore.........i

dallas and phoenix are both overmatched by detroit.
the last thing ill ever be accused of is an 'after the fact' gambler but you had to see this clunker coming from detroit. the pistons were taken to 7 games by cleveland while miami sat around and waited. the pistons are still far and away the best team in the nba. this kind of thread goes to show how fickle some people are. its one game.

its one game i agree. here we go again, just like we heard all last series. after detroit plays a miserable game, people start jumping on their back. when will they learn, the series is 7 games, not one?!?!? no team is going to roll through the playoffs and shoot lights out every game. never happened, never will. this series is going 7 games and should be a battle. lets not get all over detroit because they shot 37% in game one... please.

note to self: watch games.
i knew i was forgetting to do something before capping. :banghead:

i love the mavericks, but they are still a very suspect defensive team that cant get consistent stops when it counts. the mavs should have finished san antonio off in 5 games, but because their defense is so inconsistent, it took them 7 games and they still almost blew it.

AND this Detroit team that you have so much admiration for shouldn't have finished off CLEVELAND in 5 games?????? What about their inconsistent offense, or any offense at that.

Come on gman, I have a lot of respect for you, but to be critical of this Dallas team's defense because they were taken to 7 games by the DEFENDING CHAMPIONS, who might I remind you had home court advantage in this series and were the favorite???? IMO that is not a good argument to support your opinion of Detroit being in "A DIFFERENT LEAGUE then Dallas." You have to agree with the many in this forum and this thread, DETROIT is not playing good basketball right now. Their offense is absolutely horrible and they had better think themselves for having the regular season that they did and the NBA for allowing them to play in the East to allow them the first round match up that they got. Be happy that this DETROIT team that IN YOUR OPINION is so much better then this years Dallas didn't have to play San Antonio in the first round, because from what we have seen so far, they may have been eliminated in 5!!!!!

No disrespect, just my thoughts!!!!

For what its worth, I think Detroit is an awesome team and I'm not taking anything away from them. Something that I left out once re-reading my posts is that because of their talent and ability to work as a team as well as they do, they can afford to play poorly against teams like Cleveland and still escape with the series win, BUT imagine if they were playing to their capabilities and their offense was clicking (which it isn't right now)????? My argument was meant to be against the opinion that they are in a different league then the Dallas Mavericks (whether they are playing at their best or not).....and that no one should be critical of their defense just because they went 7 games with the Defending Champs!

I am also by no means jumping on Detroits back, I think they will be a GREAT play in game 2! Hell, look at how they stayed in game 1 with the offensive showing that they had!!!! Very impressive! They still did some very good things that can not be overlooked, got wade and shaq in early foul trouble, created turnovers, didn't allow offensive rebounds from Miami....they just failed to convert on the offensive end and imo took some poor shots!

Personally, I hope we will all see a Detroit-Dallas final. Lets see what Avery can do. Lets see what kind of adjustments he can make and then compare them to Flip's.

BUT, all thats just hope right now, BOTH teams have a hell of road to travel first.....
