"the bunker"
i`d guess that excludes the ny.times.....unless you amended it to read,""Despite The Bloodshed At Abu Gharaib , President Bush Remains Optimistic......

i`m sure that al zarqawi and bin laden read this crap and laugh out loud...

"be patient my brothers....the infidels have no will"....

whether iraq was a good idea or not....to cut and run now would be a disaster....

despite waht murtha says....btw....i love this murtha quote...i know bin laden and al zarqawi must have also...

""The marines, if they can get away with it, then other marines would do the same thing.""
-- Rep. John Murtha, on ABC's "This Week," spouting off on the alleged incident in Haditha....

now that`s leadership....the tape of that is going to every jihadist from cairo to n.y.c......

incredible...

yeah, or the Spanish-American war.
Good one Kosar :mj07: . An equally valid comparison. Cuz the 2 wars that Iraq most remind me of are WW2 and probably moreso the Spanish-American War. ....Actually, if you look pre-1776, it's pretty close to the French-Indian war as well.

Presidential Optimism has been around forever.
Reminds me of the press releases of the Hoover Administration:

Any Lack of Confidence in the economic future or the basic strength of business in the United States is foolish [November 1929]

The nation will make steady progress in 1930 [January 1930]

Let us be thankful that we are getting back on our feet again. [February 1930]

The crisis will be over in 60 day [March 1930]

Normal conditions should be restored in two or three months [May 1930]

I am convinced we have now passed the worst [May 1930]

The worst is over without a doubt [June 1930]

Courage and resource are already swinging us back on the road to recovery [August 1930]

We have hit the bottom and are on the upswing [September 1930]

Just one of those things presidents do.
