The Diamondbacks grabbed a win vs. this team
last night, and they look like a great value as a big
underdog in this one. Enrigue Gonzalez pitched a
solid six innings in his first start of the season, al-
lowing just one earned run in that game, and the
Braves have lost money vs. righthanders this year
(-$540). John Smoltz is having a good year for the
Braves so far, but he's certainly not unbeatable. The
Braves have only won six of his 11 starts and his
ERA is close to 4.00 over his last three starts. The
D'Backs are making money vs. righties (+$705 with
5.1 runs per game) so why not grab what looks to
be a wildly inflated price, and look for the visitor to
make it two in a row.

I also read the following, which may make Smoltz less effective:

Smoltz strained his left hamstring in Sunday's loss to the Cubs and may need to miss a start. "I'll know in a couple of days," he told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I hope it's just a strained hamstring and it won't affect me. I'll be working on it diligently for the next few days and assess it in about 2-3 days."

I'm looking for tonight's game at The Jake between the Angels and Indinas to sail OVER. There's going to be plenty of runs in this one.

Los Angeles has gotten its once cold bats going here of late as the Halos have scored at least four runs in seven of their last eight games. They have batted .275 in their last seven games, five of which have gone over. I look for them to have plenty of success against the Indians' Jason Johnson (3-4, 5.80).

The Cleveland righty had a disastrous May as he had a 9.13 ERA in the month and surrendered four home runs in just 22 2/3 innings of work. Each of his five starts under the lights this year have sailed over and this one will, too.

L.A. will trot out rookie Jered Weaver, who was solid in his MLB debut last Saturday versus the Orioles. But this is his first-ever road start and he's facing a Cleveland team that will be swinging with lots of confidence after scoring 12 runs off of Jose Contreas and the White Sox Thursday.

Cleveland is batting a solid .303 versus right-handed starters and .292 at home this year. The Tribe has also gone over in 19 of 27 versus righty starters in 2006 and they should feast on this Angel bullpen that boasts a not-so-nice 6.24 ERA away from home. There will be runs a plenty and this one's going over.

"The Diamondbacks are 0-10 as a dog with Edgar Gonzalez and the Braves are 10-0 when John Smoltz starts at home when the team won his last two starts. AND, the Braves are 26-1 after a loss in which they were shut out in the first 6 innings."
