A few questions for gen discussion.

Try to be honest. I'm sure we'll get a lot of different responses.

How long have you been cappin and what sports?

How many years have been winning years of those?

How long have you been capping and been a member of Madjacksports?

Do you have a method that works best?

What was your best year and your worst year?

I'll try to reply first, anxious to see what others say as well.

1. 11 years, I bet on football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, boxing, and those college sports as well.

2. Honestly, I would say 6 of those years I have won eeking out a profit/small profit and maybe one of those years I broke even.

3. I have been a member of MJS since 2001 and I feel it has improved my capping ability except for 2005 which I consider was my worst year because I got away from money mgmt which was not good, part of this I believe was because I had a stellar 2004 season in baseball and football.

4. The method which has been very profitable for me so far in 2006 is money mgmt, going back to basics, and taking breaks from time to time.

5. My worst year was 2005 because I waited for football and had a big bankroll set aside for it. Got carried away a bit, bet too many favorites when I really like home dogs and have for a while in the past. I guess I just expected some of the teams to come out like the eagles and pats did in 2004. My best year was 2004, made all the right choices it just seemed and it all just seemed to fall together.

1/ 10 years - cfb + cbb

2/ Won last year (First winning year, but have ALWAYS been a small bettor and I bet A LOT of parlays. Money management is very important to me. I hate losing more than I enjoy winning (I expect to win. I DO NOT EXPECT TO LOSE.)

3/ Joined Madjacks in Nov 2000

4/ Yes, I have a method. It is not a "system". Systems imply something neat, tidy and convenient. Methods are generally used by mad scientists who never leave their laboratory.

jonnykman- are you sure that betting on sports is in your best interests, given your recent laments in regards to personal debt?

you may want to rethink the Vegas trip, too. I'd hate to hear that you came back in the hole and had to force Koko and Kiki into breeding to pay off more of your gambling debts.

How long have you been cappin and what sports?

In training all my life.

How many years have been winning years of those?

At 12 years of age in the final group, I lost ten dollars first place prize in a monopoly tournament. Took me years to get over that one.

Other than that I refuse to lose.

How long have you been capping and been a member of Madjacksports?

See member join top right.

Do you have a method that works best?

Yes.

1. Pick the winning team

2. Find the emotion in the play.

3. Follow line movement and intangibles.

4. Try not to bet with the public.

5. Go to Costco and buy something nice.

What was your best year and your worst year?

Last year was my best year.

My first year was the worst year as I didnt understand the suttle nuances of gambling .

1. How long have you been cappin and what sports?

17 years (more gambling than capping). NFL & NBA

2. How many years have been winning years of those?

None! Have never won! Not substantially anyway. In the 17 years, I can honestly say that I have lost a total of about 6K. The bulk of that occurred in the early years, fresh out of college.

3. How long have you been capping and been a member of Madjacksports?

I don't actually cap anymore. I just follow now (investmetn group). Been a member here since November 2000 when an online friend from AOL said Nolan Dalla was posting his NFL plays here at MadJack.

4. Do you have a method that works best?

No! I suck! But... I am being very honest here. It's all about money management. For the young "investors" out there, please train yourself to be disciplined in protecting your profits.

5. What was your best year and your worst year?

My best year is yet to come. My worst year of course was my first year in the NFL. Oh... My rookie self tried to chase that money by betting the NBA. What a laugh!

Kneifl,

Thanks for posting this I like your idea and am curious about others as well especially since this can be a very lonely job or hobby if you don't have someone else to share it with. Hopefully I can meet some new friends here and maybe head out to vegas for one of the madjack trips.

How long have you been cappin and what sports?

I've been betting on sports since I was 15 years old when I worked in a golf clubhouse and my older 22 year old boss would bet on playoff NFL games. Yes I lost my first wager and I was hooked hahaha. I've been capping for the past 5 years seriously, but if the NCAA is reading this then seriously for the last 3 years (college athlete).

My sports are baseball, basketball, tennis, golf, soccer and occasionally football. I'm not a big fan of football and I guess my attention falls elsewhere in the fall and winter. My speciality is the NBA, I am a true enthusiast of the game and watch and/or Tivo every game that is offered on my satellite dish, I just love it. And I have been successful capping them as well.

How many years have been winning years of those?

Since I started betting I would say that I have had 3 winning season but since I started capping and taking this seriously I have been a winner in 4 of my last 5 years and a winner in all of my last 5 years in the NBA.

How long have you been capping and been a member of Madjacksports?

I was a long time lurker and for the most part still am, it's weird cause you read peoples post over the years and you think they are friends but if I posted something to them they wouldn't know me. I first came across the site in 99, and followed through the Nolan Dalla cappin era in football and a few site revamps.

Do you have a method that works best?

Yes and no. First instincts are a lot to me especially in the NBA but I think a lot of that has to do with all the games I do watch and the research that I do. I can truly say I have an unbiased opinion of the game and sometimes I will catch myself rooting against my wagers just because I love the game or the way a team is playing it on a given night.

In golf I can truly say I have a learned a lot about capping from the guys in the forum especially Stanley, he made me a winner and gave me an interest in the game that I love to play.

But my best method is money management and I would say this because I do not touch the money that I have invested in sports I let my bankroll grow and it helps me stay humble. And I never bet over my head, well almost never, I did hae a large wager on a b-ball game this year (W). But I have learned a lot since I was a young punk betting with no reason but to have the action

What was your best year and your worst year?

My best year was the 04-05 NBA season my worst season was the 01-02 NFL regular season and playoffs. I don't know why but I just wanted to bet everything in football and i didnt know much about the sport and I genuinely don't like watching it. So from that point on no NFL, lost a lot of loot but gained a lot of real life negative wagering experience that I have learned from.

Wow typed a lot forgive me. Hope to hear from you all soon

Scott-Atlanta,

I was being half sarcastic kind of like how you know your going to lose a game sometimes and you just want that final dagger, you know so HOPE doesn't take over. But nonetheless I was kidding around but I do love basketball. Wow, I'm such a newb. No wonder I don't post that much hahaha. Back to poker

i first started gambling when i was about 10-12 years old. i used to bet on baseball pools on players getting a homer, double, triple, rbi & so on.

my first sports bet was in 1967 on superbowl 1.

i then started betting on sports on a consistent basis from 1975 to about 1980 (& bet on every immaginable thing you can bet on)..in which i lost my shirt & became familiar with beneficial finance & hfc.i stopped in 1980 to start a new career in insurance & turned my life around & started capping again, only in football this time in 1999. from 99-2005 i have won 4 out of the 6 years, with a winning the last 2 years in a row.

joined madjacks in 2000 & learned alot since reading this forum & the net in general.

i don't remember my worst year but from 1975-1980 i lost about 300*. 1999 i won about 80*& last year i won about about 100*.

and yes i developed a system that is part of my capping football.

one thing that i wanted to add is that over the years i've learned to take the emotion out of gambling. and not to take losing a game personal.

capping since 1996.

Been capping at Madjacks since the early days, I think 97, not sure exactly though. - but back when the forum looked more like craigslist.com style than now.

sports: strictly nhl these days.
been winning most seasons little by little.

best run: I wanna say the 98/99 and 99/00 NHL seasons. I think it was the 98/99 season I made some serious moolah. serious moolah.

worst year was 01 when i didnt have enough time set aside to do things right.
I fixed that and did the smart thing and started taking action instead of making action.
Since then, haven't had a losing season.
