How many game in the various leagues around the world end in 0-0 ties? Just curious if this is normal or if the competition is that much more evenly matched since it's the best players each country has.

Anyone watch soccer other than World Cup?

i tend to follow only the italian league (casually), but i always check online or read the papers in regards to the standings of all other major european leagues.

In the world cup, a 0-0 score will get you a point in the 1st round, but starting in the 2nd round, if at the end of regulation time, they will play 2 15 minute periods (if someone has scored, its over, but they play the full 2 15 minute periods, nomatter what). If at the end of overtime there is still a draw, penalty kicks come into play (very exciting). Not sure if you knew this or not.

Victory Lane
Crotia / Japan ended 0-0

I enjoyed watching that and I am not a big soccer fan.

I played a wager on Brazil and Austrailia , so its about to start now.

I hope someone scores a goal in this one.

It can be worse than baseball though when they go up and down so much with no shots even at the goal.

They sure do use their heads alot.

I was impressed by one goalie dude that kicked the ball from his goal almost all the way down the field. I think the Falcons need to sign his ass to punt for them.

It would be a refreshing change. I am gonna watch at least half this game since Brasil is supposed to be so great.

Enjoy it and good luck with your wager.

KAKA is great. he's the chit.

the problem with soccer and hockey for that matter is that there are too many people on the field. 8 on 8 would be much more entertaining. same with hockey 4 on 4 for the entire game would be.

i wouldn't mind a scoreless affair if they kept playing until they all dropped dead or someone scored. i also think the problem with soccer is that there are only about 3 or 4 shots that legitimately have a shot of going in. i mean how many times have you seen the guy shoot and throw it over the goalpost by 20 feet and the announcers go down on each other on how close it was. there's so many worthless shots and so much time between shots.

like i said i don't mind no scoring if there is great goalie saves and lots of chances, but chances in soccer are very slim and in 90 + minutes that gets very boring.

yes it is, 2 yellows in a game and you are gone for the rest of the game, most refs will do that, kick the ball after the whistle (especially into the net) and yellow it is!

Not to mention the game after that one as well.

My only problem with the World Cup so far is the amount of cards being issues. I realize FIFA asked the refs to crack down, by they are going way to & it is taking away from the game.

For those who dont follow soccer at all another great tourney that is IMO every bit as entertaining as the WC is the UEFA Champions League.

Here is Wiki descripition of it:

The UEFA Champions League is an annual club football competition organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for the most successful football clubs in Europe. It is arguably the most prestigious club competition in football. It has a global audience of more than a billion (one thousand million) people.

The tournament was inaugurated in 1955 at the instigation of the French sport's journalist and L'?quipe editor Gabriel Hanot,[1] as a competition for winners of the European national football leagues under the name of the European Cup, but since the 1992?1993 season the competing teams have been the top-ranked teams of Europe and the tournament has been renamed the UEFA Champions League, though some teams competing have never been champions in their respective countries. The UEFA Champions League is not to be confused with the UEFA Cup, the secondary championship for European club teams.

The current holders of the UEFA Champions League trophy are FC Barcelona of Spain, who beat Arsenal F.C. of England 2-1 at the Stade de France on 17 May 2006 after coming from 0-1 behind.

These are some intense intense games & so of the best soccer you will ever see.
