I hand around the .50/1.00 and 1.00/2.00 NL at Party Poker. Will start around with $30.00, and if I doulble it I quit for the night, if I bust then I quit .

this whole week, I have been doubling up on a consistent basis,

when should I move up, or should I. I know competetion gets better as you move to higher tables, i.e. blackjack--you don't get the dumbasses splitting faces, etc.

just playing for FUN, but to 'hone' my abiilties, I figure i should move up a level

any advice,

Lawrence

I'd say keep going til you start losing some... theres no need to jump up a level right now if your consistently doing well. Losses at a higher level will only deplete your bankroll faster. Theres no need to risk that if consistently you are making good $ at the lower level. I started playing @ party about 3 weeks ago, over the first 2 weeks or so I made almost $500 at the .10/.25 tables (playing about 6 tables at a time), now i've been breaking even for basically a week straight. Just wondering if you are new party or if you have had them a while? It seems like I just got all the sweet hands right when I joined and now that seems to be over.

first, always buy in for the maximum, you cost yourself money if you don't. if you double up with 30, theres no reason you can't double up for more, and theres nothing worse than not having the maximum when you make a hand and get paid off.

you should have at least 20 or 25 buy-ins for whatever level you are playing. for 1/2 nl you should have 4k to 5k to play and not have to worry about deviation.

play whatever level you are rolled for and feel comfortable in. if you aren't comfortable, don't play that level. you never have to move up if you don't want to if you are playing recreationally.

but if you don't play winning poker it doesn't matter what limit or what your roll.

bol to u

thanks for the advice. been around party for a few months. will take BDB's advice and buy in for larger amount, and see how I do over a couple of weeks.

Yea, I agree with BDB, you want to always have the max amount at the table... lets say you lose a $10 hand, make sure you rebuy back up to the max so when you do get the nuts, your getting the most $ out of it.
