NY METS (O. Hernandez) +160 over TORONTO (Halladay)

OK, maybe Roy Halladay really is the best pitcher in
the American League this year. But how often are we
going to get a chance to take a team like the Mets at
this sort of underdog price. New York has posted a
spectacular 21-10 record vs. righthanders on the road
this year (+$995 with just over six runs per game) and
they've got a hot El Dugue (2.37 ERA in his last 3 starts)
taking the mound. The Mets have taken nine straight as
visitors, and dispatched this team with little difficulty
in last night's series opener.This is a huge price to be
laying on the home team in this one, especially given
Toronto's terrible 8-14(-$830) record in day games
this year.

oakland very big

I'm going to ride with the slightly favored Athletics as hot Oakland's going to keep it going this afternoon against chilly San Francisco by the bay.

The A's are on a 12-2 run after their 4-3 Friday win over the Giants at AT&T Park. San Francisco on the otherhand has now dropped nine of its last 13 and today goes with right-hander Jamey Wright (5-7, 4.55). He's been awful here of late, going 0-4 with a 6.14 ERA over his last five starts.

And it's not like the Giants are scoring runs for him as they've averaged just 1.2 runs per game over the course of his last five outings. And this is a San Fran team that is batting just .233 in its last seven games overall and a mere .211 in interleague contests.

San Fran has a losing record versus righty starters and the Giants will struggle with Oakland's Dan Haren today. Over his last nine starts, he's 5-3 with a 2.15 ERA and holding opponents to a .213 batting average. In 10 June starts since last year, he's 7-1 with a 2.47 ERA.

Oakland has the better bullpen (3.61 road ERA compared to the Giants' 5.11 home ERA) and this team is playing as good if not better than anyone in the Majors right now. This is a very small price to lay and Oakland is set to cash against the Giants Saturday.

like OAK and METS a lot Ray, one thing though....

I'm afraid this METS line is too big (the proverbial "sucker bet").

Are the books begging for mets $ or do you think based on the pitchers, this line is about right ??
