Kinda of curious to get some info on this....I am trying to find ways to spend some extended time in Europe or Asia & wondered if anyone knows anything about it.

My brother lives in Japan teaching English, and did the same in Europe (Slovakia) for two years previously. He loves it.

It's all second hand information I guess, but if you have any questions, I'd forward them to him.

There are some places in Europe where many ESL teachers like to go, and those places might be harder to find work (Barcelona for example - my friend has taught there for 4 years and now she can't find work), but if you go through a program and not independently it is much easier. Also if you don't go through a program, some places require TEFL/TESL certification. I taught English to immigrants in Toronto on several occasions when I was growing up - classes full of people who all spoke different languages, so it was a little different, but very fulfilling and you meet lots of great people...

Interesting. I was thinking of going to a program in Prague to get TEFL certified & then try & continue teaching there.

Trying to feel out where would be go for me & where it would be not to difficult to secure a position & make some decent money doing it....

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
a buddy of mine taught conversational and business english in Bratislava, Slovakia few years back.

He made enough to get by. He didn't have any certification, he just hung up his name and advertised. Said it was easy to do there. Prague is already covered with teachers and tourists, that's why he went a bit further out. He was thinking of getting the TEFL to make more money, but came back to the states..

oh, almost forgot---he said the babes were incredible and had hard time focusing on his teaching!
