the Mariners dispose of the Diamondbacks tonight as these two teams continue to go in opposite directions. Tuesday's 11-7 Seattle win extended the Mariners winning streak to three straight and eight of 11.
Meanwhile, Arizona has dropped 18 of its last 21 games as the curse of Jason Grimsley goes on and on. The Snakes have dropped nine of 10 interleague affairs and are batting just .246 in such games. The pitching (5.14 ERA at home) has been bad and tonight Edgar Gonzalez (0-1, 6.00) is set to make his second start of the year.
Gonzalez is 2-11 with an 8.37 ERA in his brief career as a starter. He'll be opposed by Seattle's Felix Hernandez, who seems to have settled down of late in winning three of his last four starts. His ERA has dropped each month as it's a nice 3.58 in June.
Seattle is batting .315 in winning 11 of 13 interleague games and the M's will jump on Arizona's Gonzalez early. There is a large difference in how these two clubs are playing right now and Seattle will earn this victory tonight.
