interesting article--
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/storie...ME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2006-06-26-00-54-17

I see where top 3 in U.S. are New York- L.A. and San Fran.

These same cities also have-some of poorest getto's in U.S.-

Interesting to the fact that these liberals strongholds all supported Kerry/Edwards two America's rant--while being the biggest offenders.

best news of today---

BOULDER, Colo. -- The University of Colorado announced Monday that it will dismiss controversial professor Ward Churchill.

"Today, I issued to Professor Churchill a notice of intent to dismiss him from his faculty position at the University of Colorado Boulder," CU Interim Chancellor Phil DiStefano said Monday afternoon.

Churchill has 10 days to make a request to have the university president or chancellor forward the recommendation to the faculty senate Committee on Privilege and Tenure. A special panel will then conduct hearings on the matter and make a recommendation to the president on whether grounds for dismissal are supported.

Churchill, who ignited a firestorm by calling some of the World Trade Center victims "little Eichmanns" in an essay he wrote after Sept. 11, 2001, has vowed to sue the school if he was fired.

My business partner is over there now, and he has been bitching the whole time about how expensive everything is there. Luckily, he is able to spend most of his time outside of Moscow. He arrived in St. Petersburg last night and will spend the next two weeks there and Yoshkar-Ola (excuse spelling) where our office is.

He said it's racket after racket in Moscow, but the rest of Russia is fantastic as far as people go.

What are you referring to with the "offenders" comment, Dogs? Sorry, only 1/2 cup of coffee down this morning, a little slow on the uptake.

Moscow is one big getto. No surprise NY has a big one being one of oldest American cities. L A is part of your border problem. Im not to sure S Fran has that big of a getto. Miami is getting there.

I don't have stats to back it up, but I do not believe that New York has one of the "poorest ghettos". Where exactly is that ghetto ?? Not Harlem--it is being re-built, and is enjoying somewhat of a renaiisance (sp ?). Sure there are alot of poor people in New York City, but when all is said and done, I think that some of the areas down south have what they call abject poverty, which is not present here.

These places are pricey because they are where the jobs are. Sure you can get a cheap house in the boodocks somewhere but there isn't any work.

Keith & Steve believe your both right on. For NYC I guess just because in my thinking it's old. Does not mean it has to have a big getto.

thanks man. I live on Long Island, but only 40 minutes or so from Manhattan. I am in the City fairly frequently for work, and with my wife every couple of weekends. Sure there are areas that I would prefer not to be walking the streets, but I am fairly confident that you can say that about pretty much any mid to large sized city. That being said, I actually believe that, for its population, Manhattan is one of the safest big cities in America. I don't have stats at hand to support that, but I absolutely recall reading items to that effect. May not have been 15 years ago, but since Guiliani cleaned things up, and Bloomberg followed, Manhattan (and New York City in general) is pretty safe. Certainly there is no other city like it.

I agree I been there 3 times and it's special. Folks have to remember much of our nations history starts right there.

and yet, despite the fact that everyone knows it is THE #1 target of the terorists (not only for the shock value but also because it is the financial capital of the country), those numbskulls in Washington drastically reduced the anti-teror funding, so they could distribute the $$$ evenly throughout the country. You kidding me ?? Who is running the Dept. of Homeland Security ?? KARL MARX ???

Moscow can mostly lend its high prices to tourists not jobs.

I was speaking about cities in the United States. Homes are pricey because they are in areas that offer a combination of the most abundant and highest paying jobs.
