Zindane is a Muslim
The Italian defender made racial and Muslim slurs (I am told from reliable Azzuri fans)
It makes sense .. what else would make the guy snap
He had hurt his arm so he couldnt punch..
The Italians also made quite a mention of the 7 out of 11 starters being black...

more on this as I get reports...

No matter what was said, he's a professional and should have acted like one. It was only the biggest game of the year, and his last. If I were his teammate I'd be PO'd.

It's the oldest trick in the book when trying to get a good player thrown out. Just like in the movie Roadhouse...

"No matter what, be nice."

"What if they call my momma a whore?"

"Is she?"

Read this moron has a history of acts like this, including stomping on some dude.

Fvvck him and all other athletes like him not playing for their team but for themselves.

(not that he's my hero) Can't imagine Jordan or Kerr head butting a guy in the NBA finals ( BTW, in front of a much smaller viewing audience) if an opponent made a comment about their dead (murdered) parents/parent.

or their wives, or mothers, or whatever...

Muslims don't take very many things with stride. If Zouzou had a knife, he probably would have stabbed the daygo on the spot. Pretty smart move by Matterrazi if this is true. If a couple words can give you that much of an edge, you owe it to your team to seize the advantage when given the opportunity.

Winning tactic # 17 - If you get the best player on the other team thrown out or off his game by one of your lesser players you have an advantage.

ZZ head walked directly into the web set by the Italian.

I blame him for falling for such a blantant attempt to cause him to lose his cool.

. . . and go down like a little bitch when touched.

It must be nice to win a trophy, but at some point, don't you have to hate yourself a "little bit" to pinch someone's nipple and then call him a slur and then flop like that.

Yeah - and that's part of why soccer generally sucks. But when in Rome....(pun intended)

He should have waited until the game was over and then kicked him in the nuts. Hard. He was baited into what he did. Oldest trick in the book.

I had heard what he said was "if you were a true Frenchman you would have surrendered before the match started"

I'd really like to know what it was. Wonder if we will ever know?

doesn't matter what he said

how could he be so gullable?

it's not like he is a young kid coming up or anything

how did he get the golden ball as well, is that FIFA's way of trying to salvage his image?

I didn't think he deserved it at all when he may of cost his country the trophy. How about Gianluigi Buffon? He let up 2 goals in 7 games, one on a penalty kick in the final and one scored by his own team against the U.S.

He was incredible. That save against Zidane in OT was tremendous. That goal would have been it for the Italians if he hadn't stopped Zidane's header.

anyway, what a shame

Zindane was an idiot... no matter what Materazzi said Zindane should not have headbutted him.... ESPECIALLY in the final game of the world cup in overtime!!! LOL Fight him after the game is over.

one of the biggest sport blunders I can think of...

the biggest joke is Zindane winning the golden ball... nice role model for all the kids out there that watched the final game.

Buffon should have won it.

Supposedly called him a terrorist (he is a Muslim) and may have brought his mother into it.

Doesnt matter what he said. Zidane will look even worse for disclosing it. SHould just say he was an idiot apologize and move on.
