going with the defending world champion White Sox as a slight dog in the Bronx tonight. Chicago has played great on the road of late (10-3 run) and the Yankees haven't exactly been dominant this year.

New York, which is batting only .259 in its last seven contests as it enters the second half, will trot out Randy Johnson this evening. the Big Unit has struggled this year (5.13 ERA) and versus the Sox in recent years.

The big lefty is 1-2 with a 4.13 in his last three starts against Chicago, which is batting a robust .291 away from home this season. In Johnson's most recent start at Yankee Stadium, he gave up eight earned runs against the Mets. Ouch.

Chicago, which closed the first half on a 17-6 run, is still the best team in baseball with apologies to the Tigers. Tonight, Jose Contreas, who is 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA against the Yankess, will dominate the first Major League team he played for.

In two starts last year against the Yanks, Contreas allowed just one earned run, while striking out 11 in 15 innings. Contreas (9-0, 3.31) will be on tonight in earning his 10th win of the season as the Sox get it done.

their heads we think they will play much better
baseball in the second half of the season.Miguel
Batista turned a nice profit for the D-Backs in the
first half 12-6 (+$840). Arizona is 6-4 against lefties
in home night games this season and are facing Doug
Davis who has an era of 8.79 on the road in night games.
This scenario favors the D-Backs and considering the
small price for the home team, Arizona seems like the
smart play.
