my collection of worst excuses i have got from employee

-i slept on my arm so it went numb and now it hurts ( didn't answer phone all day )

-bus driver got lost ( 4 hours late )

-my car broke down and i have to go ( drive ) to the shop to get spare parts....

-electric was down during the night and i have electric alarm clock
so it alarmed me late

now i use rented workmen so i can tell them to fukk off if they don't feel like coming to work or feel like doing what they are paid for.

I've had my share of weird call-ins too.

Had one employee at work who came to me an hour after the shift started and said "somebody is trying to break into my house; I have to go". I asked if she called 911, and she said no, her husband was going to confront them right after he got off the phone with her.

my lights are out, and I can't do my hair.

My lights are out, and I can't get a shower, so I have to call in.

multiple, multipile times various employees have called in with the excuse that they are having car trouble. (This one ticks me off; who doesn't have car trouble at some point?? I've had people call in for this that lived less than 2 miles from work  )

It's going to snow this afternoon (employee works 7-3), and I don't want to drive on the bad roads. (This one steams me as well; our weathermen call for snow constantly that we don't get).

My roads are slick after the rain last night.

Had one employee who had never worked a day that called in saying she couldn't work because her other job had called her in. :mj07: Good way to start a new job there!

multiples of I have to take my dad/mom to the doctor.

my husband just beat the shit out of me.

my boyfriend broke up with me.

My alarm didn't go off. Said employee didn't answer her phone and only called to say this at 11:00 am. She was supposed to be at work at 0630 and lives over an hour away. Also, she had two kids under 5 in the house with her. Wonder what kind of mess she woke up to besides being in trouble at work?

My sister is going into labor (3 times in 1 week - 2 false alarms).

My girlfriend hurt her back, and I have to watch her kids.

I have to go get my teeth cleaned (what, could you not schedule this on a day or time you weren't working, and why wait until 2 hours before your shift to tell me????).

Actual call-ins I've received:

"My iguana is sick and might die if I don't stay here to care for him"
"My uterus hurts"
"I dropped acid yesterday and I'm still tripping"
"I am out of maxi pads and can't get more until payday" (this was supposed to get her out of 3 shifts).

glad I'm not the only one who has to deal with this. Wouldn't it be much better for them to lie and say, "I'm vomiting and I have diarrhea" or, "I have a fever of 102 and a cough"?

Mine for the week:

"I'll be 'working' from home most of the week if you don't see me much." ;)

<taking notes>

Some of those are brilliant. Of course I am sitting in my office, with a coworker thinking up ways to inconspicuously disappear for a few hours, or cause the office to lose electric power.

I mean it IS Monday. That itself is a reason to call in sick.

I really don't see a problem with alot of them, others are ridiculous, but it is the world we live in. In the past many years of union representation I have seen and heard just about everything from both sides. Difficult to trust anyone these days at any level. Kind of sad really.
Of course it could be worse,.............Employee 1 could have been calling in from the employer's house. That would be worse..............or..........get badly shocked from answering machine when retrieving said excuse............thats worse.....................hives........worse, .............shark attacks are worse too..................man I could go on forever............anyway, hope this helps,
FDC :D

Employee #2 sounds like a winner. Wait, next time he'll call and say he needs to take a leave of absence the next 5 years off for prison! Worked in a warehouse during summers in college, can't come to work, got arrested happened a few times!

Employee 2 has been to Huber 2 times in the past 3 years, and can't get a regular drivers license till something like 2010.....

He's currently been off since the end of April.

Seems he was messing around with a flag pole in the front yard of where he lives, but didn't have a ladder so he was on the top of his roommates truck. Did I mention he was barefoot. Oh yeah, then he lost his balance and stepd backwards and stepped on the luggage rack. So instead of falling into the bed of the truck he decieded to jump off the top of the truck which was park'd on the hiill and anded on the concrete driveway.........1 broken ankle and shattered the heal of the other foot................

He's a real winner.................
