How on earth did this guy become the voice of reason? I watched him on Scarborough's MSNBC show and he seems like the only cable news commentator who gets it. If America wants to remain a world power, we have to act like it. We have to help resolve regional conflicts and try to keep the high moral ground. We can't escalate regional conflicts and absolve the attacking of civilians.

hi nick..

good to see you posting.

pat is an isolationist. he wants to be left alone.

if you think you can reason or negotiate with these thugs, you are sadly mistaken.....ie.. the 1994 negotiation with north korea.

unfortuantely they only know one thing.

Nick,

You should know by now that if a staunch conservative like Buchanan or Charley Reese or William Buckley...or...or....is against the 'war' in Iraq , it's dismissed as 'oh, he's an isolationist', but if a perceived liberal is against the war, he's a commie, puss*, anti-war puke. Predictable.

I made mention of it a few years ago, but Pat really has seemed to make a lot of sense, compared to 4 or 5 years ago.

As far as the 1994 'framework agreement' goes? Clinton did not live up to our part of the agreement, as i've mentioned many times. We did not build the light-water reactors as we promised.

Even after all that, they (UN) still had inspectors in NK, the rods were sealed and the cameras were working. Until our cowboy spouted off.

Now, who knows?

kosar....

although i disagree with him on some issues i've always enjoyed listening to pat buchanan. but he's a known isolationist since he ran for pres. years ago.and as a matter of fact when he ran the first time, i think in the 80's he called for a wall between u.s. & mexico & people called him a "radical". he believes the u.s. shouldn't be involved any place that is outside the u.s. but if the u.s. listened to him, israel would have been wiped out years ago.

william buckley is a name out of the past. in the mid 60's he was one of about 9 republicans that ran for mayor & to this day i haven't understood a word he has ever said.

the other guy i never heard of...where can i read about what he has to say ?

i've never called a liberal any type of names so i'm pretty sure you aren't talking about me.

and as you say.."who knows".

but imo, israel is the only country that gets it....you can not negotiate with thse type of people.

I knew Buchanon was an isolationist too.

Nick, I watched an interview last night with Benjamin Netanyahu. His analogy was this. If Chicago, the third largest city in the USA, was being randomly rocketed by a terrorist cell in Canada, would the world be telling us to show restraint, and if they did, would we listen?

No Al, I wasn't talking about you, but it cracks me up how certain people with the exact same thoughts on war are variously called 'pacifists' or 'isolationists', depending on the side of the political aisle the person is on.
