Hudson Valley area.....NY
If you been to Vegas then you can understand and relate to what i'm about to say.if you've never been there then its really hard for me to explain it.Maybe 3 words can describe it.
'unfreak'in real".I spent 6 days there and didn't see MGM,Mandalay bay,NY,NY,Luxor,Rio,etc
I met cowtownguy and had a nice time talking over a few drinks. My first meeting with a MJ'er.More on Cow later....
I guess a lot of this vacation has to do with how you do money wise. And boy was this a great vacaton for me.My 1st day I went to Red Rock casino.Played 5 baseball parlays.3 teamer,4 teamer and 5 teamers.I know there sucker bets but when you hit 5 of 5..what a great 1st day.also played blackjack and won big.Bet also on Chris DiMarco to win the British Open .DiMarco today is 1 stroke off the lead.If that sucker wins i have to fly back to Vegas to collect.he was 60-1.I won't watch it..just pray..
The following days went to Paris. It was beautiful. the rain, the stores, the tower that comes right thru the casino. The best i ever seen. Then to Caesars. That was even better then paris.Unreal.Then to Bellagio.Better then Caesars.Sportbook was great.I was like a little kid at an amusement park looking up at the screens.Tropicana and Alladain. Can't even remember them because I'm getting confused.
Then the Venitian..where I met cowtown..Cannot even describe this place.almost better the the real venice.
Then Wynn's place at night. My favorite. The waterfalls at nite...cannot describe it. you have to see it.Blackjack tables were on boxes side all nite.
Also went to Green valley,South coast and the one in lake vegas.[forgot the name..Maggio..]
What made it even sweeter was Alladin was the only place where i lost.Broke even at a few and hit the jackpot at the others.
now maybe if I'm losing these hotels aren't that great...but i was on a "high"...last time i was that "high' was in 1969...at North Texas... and i had to smoke that..
Then i go see Cirque de Souile's " Love" with the beatles.Almost missed it because of cowtown..
AR182...you were wrong..you said it was great. It wasn't even close to great. It was Unbelievable...having never seen a cirque de souile show the music and performance had me mesmerized.Better then any broadway show I've ever seen.Of course thats my era and i loved the beatles."Love' blew me away.
It also helps to go to the Mirages sports books and see another 2 baseball parlays hit right after the show was over.
i had one of the greatest times of my life in Vegas.Even if i lost i'm sure I would of liked it.but winning sure was nice.
I forgot what nite it was. i had a 5 team parlay and the payoff was big.But I had the reds -1.5 on the moneyline.I had won the 1st 4 games.Mets are up 4-0...then a big rain delay..I go off and play blackjack.. a few hours later I go in the sportsbook and the Reds tied it up. Then i sit there in the sportsbook screen and watch the Reds score 3 in the bottom of the 8th.I feel like I'm in Cincinatti. Reds hold on and win by 3.I'm so freak'in happy. I go up to collect my ticket..The guy looks at me and says..you can't cash this here..its from the South Coast Casino..I guess i got a little confused.
Well enough of my boring stories. Steve Di,I missed connecting with you. I had no access to a computer out there.I was going to try to stop by the rain forest bar on wedr but we changed plans.
I promise the next time I come out I'll hook up with you.
I met Cowtown on thur nite at the venetian. He was in the finals of a poker tournament.we connected after he and a few others all split the pot.
What a great time talking to him for an hour.it was my 1st time meeting a madjacker.I've seen those pictures of you guys but thats different. what a great down to earth guy. It's almost like I've known him for years. It must be great when all you guys get together and share war stories.
I enjoyed talking to him and him buying me a few drinks.I'm not a big drinker but Cow bought a few 7&7's for me.Where talking and i asked him what time is it.It's 7.05.I'm susposed to met my other friends at 7.00 at the Mirage for 'Love'..Holy shit...Cowtown..I did make it at 7.25.Just so you know. thank god the ventian is across the street from the Mirage.
Anyway thank you for the drinks.I really enjoyed our conversation.you are one great guy.
Well,i think the Los vegas travel bureau should use me to promote there city.
It was beyond my expectations and i didn't even see half of it.
I can retire from education in a few years.Vegas has jumped up the ladder..and just maybe if dimarco wins this open I will be flying out to collect next week. but I'm returning...anyway..
sorry this is so damn long..cow..take care

box...

glad you enjoyed yourself & really happy for you that you had a nice winning streak, which makes vegas more enjoyable.

maybe i'm also from that generation, but i agree the love show was the best i have ever seen. i also think people who are not from our generation will also like that show.

hope one day to meet you in vegas.

Box, just so you know, you don't HAVE to fly back there to cash the ticket if he wins. I've had last-day bets end up winning, and I just mail it to the casino with a SASE and they'll cut you a cashier's check. Of course, it might be worth it to head back again!

Great write-up Box and one. I am abig time Vegas fan...I don't even go to any of the other gambling cities anymore...why should I? Unless a person has relatives or lives in very close proximity to the other cities, Vegas is the place!

I am planning on going in late October or early November...I don't usually go during the hot months.

It was great to meet Box in Vegas and yes he was on a streak as he mentioned above. When we finally got together on Thu nite he was on cloud nine and what made it even better so was I.

I had played in 2 poker tourneys that day one at the Monte Carlo in the morning and one at the Venetian in the afternoon and cashed in both by making a deal with the other money players and taking home a nice little sum. So I think just having Box in Vegas was good luck for me also. I have played alot of tourneys in Vegas and made the final table many many times, but never cashed until that Thur, so I want Box in Vegas whenever I play. LOL

I have known Box just from the Internet for years going back to the Talksport forum days before Madjacks and I did feel like I had known him for years and that's just how it felt when we met in person.

Believe me guys when I say this, Box is even more personable and likable in person than through his great posts. I absolutely had one of the best hour or so's in my life sitting with Box and shooting the shittt about everything, sports etc, but mainly about his life as a coach, teacher, principle and mentor to his athletes and students. If we could duplicate the love and compassion this man has for his students all our educational problems would vanish in this country.

It was a great 2 days for me and I know an even better week for box as you can read above. I'm hoping to get him out for the NCAA March Madness tourney this year along with my buddies, it will be our 11th year and get all his expertise on the games. It's a great time that first weekend, Hope alot you can make it also.

Box as I said to you in Vegas, I feel like you have been a friend for years and I hope we can keep that going for years to come. And once again thanks for the Army Black Night hat, it is awesome, as a matter of fact I'm wearing it today as we speak.

Take care, looking forward to seeing you again in the future.
