In the wake of recent actions by the government of the United States
it is time for us supporters of Internet Gambling to unite together
and stand up for what we believe in. I am asking you to simply follow
these instructions:

1) If you know who your state rep is go directly to #2, if not, then
click on the following website to find the state rep in your district.
Type in your zip code with the +4 digits in the top which will
direct you to your state rep. (If you do not know the +4 code there
is a link on the site to the USPS where you can get this information).

http://www.house.gov

2) Once you know who your state rep is go to the following website and
see how they voted on the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.

http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2006/roll363.xml

3) If they voted Aye, please do not vote for them when their seat is
up in the next election. If they voted Nay, please vote for them when
their seat is up in the next election. If they did not vote, please
send them a letter explaining to them that you are a law abiding, tax
paying United States citizen with voting ability who does not believe
internet gambling should be prohibited.

4) Please send your state senator a letter telling him/her that you
are a law abiding, tax paying United States citizen with voting
ability who does not believe internet gambling should not be
prohibited. To find your senator, click on the following link.

http://www.senate.gov/

This is supposedly a democracy and if online gambling is as big as the
government says it is in the United States, then the people should be
the individuals making the decision, and it should get overwhelming
support. Remember that you have the power through your voting
abilities and if you feel that your State Rep or Senator is not
representing you the way you want to be represented, then you need to
simply vote and put them out of office.

Please forward this to as many people as you know who support internet
gambling.

Thank You,
ED

What difference does it make? I'm going to gamble online regardless what laws they pass. If they are debating a bill about making it a crime to wear dirty underwear should I beg my congressman to vote no or send him a an extra dirty pair? moon1

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Fixer Wins posted what seems like a long time ago at one of the first gambling related websites. He is a credible person and handicapper in my opinion. This is a great service.

"Fixer Wins posted what seems like a long time ago at one of the first gambling related websites. He is a credible person and handicapper in my opinion. This is a great service." Vegas Insider in 97 or 98. I can't remember what year.

WOW, I originally signed up for this site in 1999! I do feel old.

Seriously, we all must UNITE and fight this bill. No need to "beg" congress as I do feel most of these letters go directly to the trash. But if they start getting thousands of them at a time that have a simple paragraph stating, "I am a tax paying American citizen with voting ability that does not believe internet gambling should be prohibited." with your name and address attached we will start being heard!

All of the gambling related websites out there must put their competitive differences aside and unite on this front. It's that simple.

The books may fold to the Feds first: CNBC article:

BetonSports fires chief executive
David Carruthers on Tuesday learnt he had been fired by BetonSports as he waited in a US jail cell for a bail hearing to take place.
The online gambling company terminated the contract of its chief executive, who is facing charges of racketeering, conspiracy and fraud in a case that has wiped millions of pounds from the values of other companies in the industry on fears of a broader crackdown against gambling companies

BetonSports is believed to have made the move to prevent Mr Carruthers from speaking to US authorities as a company representative. It is also firing its only indicted director in an attempt to extricate itself from a controversy that has shut down 85 per cent of its business.
Unless it resumes taking bets from US punters by the start of the American Football season in September, the company is understood to be at risk of collapse.
The decision to fire Mr Carruthers was described by Tony Evans, his lawyer, as "unfortunate". "I'm sure [it] has been made for business purposes," he said.
A senior executive from a rival company described BetonSport's action as "leaving him to the sharks". "It's disgraceful what they've done. They haven't even spoken to the guy and they've dumped him," the executive said.
But lawyers in the US said the decision was standard in such cases. "The firing is not a surprise. I am sure the company is making every effort it can to stay in business and to work out a settlement with the US government in the criminal case," said Sheldon Krantz, a partner at DLA Piper.
However, Gary Kaplan, the founder and largest shareholder in BetonSports, is still employed as a "consultant", although he has not been actively involved with the company for some time.
Mr Kaplan could not be dismissed until last week ? a year from BetonSports flotation in London ? according to his contract. The company has not yet taken steps to remove him.
Mr Carruthers was returning to his home in Costa Rica, where BetonSports is based, when he was arrested on July 17.
The former chief executive is expected to transfer from Fort Worth to St Louis sometime this week for a bail hearing.
Meanwhile, 888 Holdings, another UK online gaming company, on Tuesday revealed more of its business was coming from outside the US.
Non-US customers contributed 48 per cent of total group deposits in the first half of the year and 67 per cent of new customers were from outside the country, said 888 in a trading update.
"Even if the company had to exit the US, we believe the remaining business would show healthy profits and cash generation," said Charles Hall, an analyst at Panmure Gordon.
