I know there is more important things to discuss at MJ's, like rating chicks and the WSOP but I need some ideas for my wife's 40th.

The out-laws are riding my ass to do something special. I thought I'd take her to a nice dinner, have some drinks and then give her the ole pickle tickle but I guess that's not enough.

I've thought of renting one of those Lamar signs with the "Lordy, Lordy look whose 40" BS but that seems lame.

40 roses? Forget it.

Have any of you guys done anything that's a bit "different" when it comes to a milestone b-day or an anniversary?

As always, I appreciate any input.

BTW, could football season take any longer to get here? Damn!

My wife turned 36 in May and I tried to trade her in for two 18 year olds, but no luck there...:mj07:

Aren't you in the travel biz? If your in-laws are that set on you doing something big for her 40th, tell them they get the rug rats for 3 days as you are talking the lovely Mrs Nole to Paris for a champaigne breakfast and some sightseeing...

Other than that, I ain't got a clue what to do...

How did you do at Nationals this season? Skipped this year as we went to Europe instead--heard the shot was a toughy(as usual) and that Corpus Christi was fun.

Reno in 2007. Looking to stay at B and B on the California side of Lake Tahoe and then driving in for the bowling. Know anything about doing something like that?

Good luck in coming up with something special for the better half...

I'm telling ya Nole ... take her to a swing club! After 10-20 years of being with the same person ... she will appreciate it ... everyone needs a little variety!

Whats SHE like to do, I found out a little to late on my wifes 40th bday that all she wanted was real quality time with ME (oh hell coulda saved a bunch of money) be attentive to clues, ask some of her "girlfriends" but don't give them a clue as to what you are going to do...Good Luck... Hope she has a great one.

Hi redsfann. We just got back from Bermuda so no trips until October(Disney for a week again, all about the kids)

Looks like I'm cashing for about $120.00. Did you see McPherson won it? 813! 1st female to win the whole shootin' match.

That B and B sounds good. I don't do much with the B & B's. Privately owned and most don't pay commissions. Wife and I will probably stay at Silver Legacy again. Got a nice suite there last time. Good location.

I think this will be my 25th tourney.

Take care redsfann.

Rent a limo, take your wife and a few of your best friends or in-laws out to dinner at a $$$ place, on you of course. Maybe a nice show or club after that. She should like that??

This sounds like the way I should go.

Thanks.

loungelizard, thanks. That me be all she would want. Time with the ole man.

Lightning, swing club in Knoxville? I don't think we have one. She does like to boogie though.

Thanks.

I suggest a "spa day" for she and one of her girlfriends unless that's part of her normal routine.

If you do the boys thing, then at the end of the night, ask her if she would of had as good a time if it would of been "just the two of us" Yeah thats it, best of both worlds and maybe a pre-emptive strike...

LLIZARD's first idea always works. Quality time with you, just the two of you.

Remind her how much she means to you and what an important part of your life she is(has been). Let her know that you love her more & more each day, etc., etc. Reaffirm & thank her for doing such a great job having & raising the kids if it applies.
I hope you know how to do dishes for a day.

Play her type of music all day, even if'n you don't like it.

If she has never done the spa thing, that is always nice. Perhaps nicer if you did it yourself, a nice long full body massage winding up in all the right places. And this way she can have her "happy ending".

If you do go out and if her folks are there, it will warm her cockles if you graciously thank them ( in front of her) for having and raising such a wonderful daughter and for sharing her with you. This scores thousands of points, guaranteed.

GL & happy birthday to the lil lady. I wish I was 40 again !

I would Defiinitely go with Boys idea, I was going to say get alot of your freinds together and celebrate, maybe a surprise party or something.
But it would prolly take awhile contacting all of them and you might not have the time.

GL with your choice

when it was a special birthday for my wife i took her into manhattan for a day.....we went to all of the places she liked during the day which included shopping (what else), walking around manhattan, drinks, dinner, theater & an over night stay in a hotel.

my suggestion is for you do something similar.

i think you live in tenn ?

don't know how far memphis is but i heard that there are real nice clubs & night life there...so if i would be you i would do something similar to the above in memphis.

but whatever you decide i'm sure she will be appreciative.

enjoy !!

Okay, seriously Nole, since the swinger club idea might not work for you ... definitely DO NOT do the Lordy Lordy sign ... that stuff is mega-lame.

I would agree with Lizard and The Boys ... quality time, maybe something a bit romantic, etc...

Thanks all for your input.

Update.....

I just got tickets to "Mama Mia", that Broadway show. They're coming to Knoxville next weekend. Her b-day is Sunday but we're going Friday night.

Just had lunch with the wife. It appears she wants to just spend the day with me, the kids and her parents. She mentioned going to Pigeon Forge for the day. I'd rather have my nuts kicked in but if that's what she wants. She knows how much the kids love going there though. They have go-carts and putt-putt...stuff like that. Of course, there's shopping too.

I will buy her one of those all day spa things. She loves those. I guess I'll purchase one for her mother as well so the 2 of them can go together.

Thanks for the heads-up VaNurse.

Well, I guess I'll go rob a couple of banks and get set for next weekend. :com:

Thanks again.

lol, looks like you already thought about this!!

Women are so different. Lots of them have a really bad day when they turn 40. Others don't care.

I suggest NOT doing any kind of party for her. Take her out to eat or somewhere for a suprise overnight stay. Most women like to go to the casino and pull the slots. Maybe a bed and breakfast? Maybe just a shopping trip where you take her and patiently shop with her and comment on whatever outfits she is trying on (My wife loves this kind of thing because she knows I hate it and it means I'm putting forth tons of effort) and you pay for everything without mention of cost.
