Boston 0-4 against AL West...
Rookie pitcher starting on the road...
Said Rookie is "unhittable" and unbeaten...
Wind is blowing out to right field on a humid day....

Tons of people on LAA and the Under early?

Give me the Red Sox and Over both for a dime. Mine as well throw a dime on the RL too. Welcome to Fenway Park kid.

Good luck bro! This kid is the real deal. The Sox might hit him today, but if they do, they are going to earn everything they get. The "due to get hit" theory doesn't apply to young studs like Verlander, Liriano, Papelbon, and Weaver. They are lightning in a bottle!

I have counted over 50 posters from two different forums on the Angels compared to handful of people on the Red Sox. Believe me I have nothing better to do this morning than surf the net while waiting for the cable people hook up my TV.

very rarely will i lay more than 120 or 130 on a favorite in baseball, but i absolutely agree on boston today. normally i steer clear of betting on the sox because, much like the cardinals and yankees, they are always overpriced by about 30 to 40 cents. but you will rarely find beckett at a better (and more reasonable) price than this afternoon.

one thing i think is getting a little overlooked with weaver is that 5 of his 7 starts have come against very anemic offenses.

ill give him credit for shutting down cleveland and baltimore (though the indians make every rookie look like koufax the first time they see him)

but his L5 starts have been against kansas city (twice), tampa bay, seattle, and oakland.

thats not to take anything away from weaver because he has been terrific. but i think today is his first true test -- going up against an all-star caliber pitcher as well as playoff-caliber baseball team and opposing lineup

I agree with what you're saying about Weaver (faced poor teams)....but Beckett is not as good as his "All-Star" status would suggest. That said this game is close to being even IMO...so why not take a shot on the doggie. I don't know if they'll win, but @ +130 with a "hot" pitcher, I'll bite.
