booking hotels in vegas

What is the best way to book hotels for vegas? I was told if you go directly through the hotel, you can be eligible for room comps, but not if you book through a travel company.

We have 4 of us going in mid november, will probably stay somewhere like IP, bally's, tropicana, barbary coast, flamingo

I have looked at prices and it seems if you do a package deal through a travel agency, it is cheaper per person, but I was told you cannot get any discounts. Also, the 4 of us are staying in 1 room. I was told to just book the room for 2 and have the other 2 join you. We won't have 4 keys, but that should not be a problem. Do hotels look for this or do they not care?


Finally, it seems that specials only go through mid september, am I better off waiting to get a better deal, or is there a possibility prices will go up. It seems if you book early, you pay more than you would if you pay closer to your trip... thoughts?

Don't stay at IP, Please don't make that mistake. I did...Once

I went through Tavelocity, on line but called there 1-800 number.

i myself just booked my reservations on thanksgivng weekend @ orleans. i talked to the casino manager and was told to place a $200.00 buy in at any table games and ask to be rated along with a pictured ID. then when you check out. they'll check your ratings, then i guess if you gambled long enough, they'll comp your stay and any restraurant tabs. so sign your tabs to your room. i hope this helps.
