Computer problem....Dr. Watson Fatal Error

Lately my computer has been leaving a website and taking me back to my homepage. Yesterday I received this message in a gray box.

Dr. Watson Fatal Error Dr. Watson was unable to attach to the process. It is possible that process exited before Dr. Watson could attach to it.

Windows 2000 Returned error code = 87
The Parameter is incorrect.>>

It keeps shutting itself down after about 5 minutes of use.

Is this a virus or?

I haven't had firewall for over a year but purchased Lavasoft last night. I don't have patience for shit like trying to download a program I just bought. When I click on the Icon it says open with ?? A box appears with all these other programs.... :shrug: Yes I'm a dummy when it comes to computers....any help would be greatly appreciated. I did get in touch with Lavasoft and have received a standard e-mail from them. I can see this is going to be a long drawn process....

Looks like I'm putting a dead-bolt on after the robbers already broke in.

Dr. Watson is a software utility included with Microsoft Windows that is used to help detect, decode and log errors that are encountered while windows or windows programs are running.

I have seen this error before but not really anything that has fixed it. I would make sure your up to date on all your system updates. go to the Windows UPdate icon in your start menu, maybe you need some sys updates

bsucards....thanks for the response. Ran updates and all are up to date as far as it said. I looked further and seen where it said something about Lavasoft. I purchased their Firewall but can't load it. Have contacted them about it but keep getting the same standard e-mail from them.

I would try thiis, boot computer in safe mode with networking, then head to this site and run a virus scan, sounds like something is messing with your install of lavasoft, and a virus can do that. It's a start anyway.

loungelizard.....thanks for the help. After I click check for free scan it takes me to a page the just says Trend Micro ??? The page stays blank....
