Stanley Asumnu, a former Tennessee Vol basketball player is back playing football for the first time since the eighth grade, and it sounds like this is an experiment worth watching. "If he'd played [college] football for four years, he'd be T.O," receivers coach Trooper Taylor told The Tennessean. "I mean, he's got a lot of potential. You're talking about a 6-4 guy that can run 4.5 or better, is strong as an ox and can jump out of the gym."

Most of his production will depend on Ainge and the revamped OL. Keep an eye out for this kid. ;)

...some other notes at Tennessee.... Probably old news for some, but I thought I'd post it for those out West that don't follow the SEC as closely as others....

Tennessee's freshmen class continues to shrink as the Vols are now down seven from their signing class of 22. The latest casualty: D-lineman Blake Garretson, dismissed for violating team rules. Garretson, who hasn't practiced since last week, violated UT's substance abuse policy for athletes just prior to the start of preseason practice, The Tennessean reports.

Earlier this month, TE Lee Smith got the boot after being arrested and charged with drunken driving.

what is it with Fulmer and recruiting thugs? I dont get it...its like every week i hear about a new Vol player being arrested/dismissed/supsended/has a warrant out or all of the above...he needs to instill discipline in his team before he ever gets back to the dominance he enjoyed before

You make want to take off the orange tinted glasses before making that bet.

These ain't the Vols of 1996.

I look for the UT defense to be stout, but I'm not sure they can stay off the field unless Ainge gets comfortable real soon.

Taoist,

Noone cares about your Vols.

:142smilie :grins:

Hope all is well. I have UT as the 3rd in the SEC. I think they will be a lot better then last year for sure though.
