...my favorite time of the year!!! Welcome back to college football....

Here are a few that I played for week 1. Nothing big...just some early action bets to get the season going.

So. Car -6
Tenn -2 (homer play)
Marshall +21'
Northwestern -3 (bought the hook)
Houst -13
Hawaii +17'
N. Texas +41 (ev)

I also have a few pizza money teasers and one parlay, but I won't post them because I wouldn't want to encourage new folks to make those kinds of bets. I just wanted a little action for week one.

I will list a few of the teams (other than the ones listed hereinabove) that I put in the teasers and parlay.

Texas Tech
USC
UTEP
Vandy
BC
Florida
Navy

Best of luck this week, fellas. May the football gods smile on your card. ;)

i think you got a good price on houston..looking at the other sites,it seems to be a very popular pick..we know rice is changing their offense with a new coach & will stink in the beginning of the season..but i never lay double digits on the road..

i played 2 games to go under so far..hope to post them either today or tomorrow....

good luck this season.

...thanks, fellas!!! Best of luck to each of you this season. :)

I took this little tid-bit out of an article that I read on the upcoming Tennessee/CAL game...and thought it was appropriate. You west coast guys try to not get your feathers ruffled.... It's all in good fun. ;)

"Cal comes in much more highly ranked than the tradition-rich Vols. Tennessee is down, coming off a 5-6 season. But the Vols are a slight favorite, indicative of two things -- this is the SEC, and Cal isn't in it." :mj07:

p.s. I may ride along with Wareagle and put a small bet on my Memphrica Tigers on the moneyline.... They were decimated by injuries last year and should open up the offense again this year. We actually have a QB (not a WR converted to QB out of necessity) and some good WR's returning.... I'll call it 23-17. I just don't know which team will have 23 and which one will have 17, but I have to lean to my Tigers. :SIB

Like em all except that homer play. Where dya see that it opened at Cal -2?

Tedford's 14-8-1 away and in that same time period, the Vols are 7-21 at home. Cal has the corners to stymie Ainge and keep 8 in the box all game, so I don't see much hope for Tennessee Saturday.

But you know more about that team than I do.

The only thing that would concern me is a 4-point move towards Tennessee since it opened. If you have time, please confirm.

GL Taoist...I like the Tenny pick for the
following reasons:

Cal doesn't have a solid starter @ QB.....
Humidity could be an issue
Bears lost senior CB Mixon, huge loss

At the bar
Thanks Chad! Good Luck this season. I'm opening my bar downtown in about 3-4 weeks. I need to get you a pass for our VIP party. I'll keep in touch and let you know as we get closer to finishing.

...sounds great, Ronnie. I'll do my best to be there. :SIB

...guys, I'm passing on tonight's game. I might play a few more this weekend, but I'm taking my shotgun to the field this weekend to kill some helpless dove. I won't be around a computer to post. Want to wish everyone the best of luck and if I play something before I leave, I'll try to post it. :)

note: Vandy is a no go.... Even though I put them in a teaser, I'm starting to think that Michigan blows them out.... I like Marshall and will likely play either Neb or Oklahoma or both this weekend. Utah also looks like a live doggie. GL, gentlemen. ;)

ar182- that is a good policy aboutt dd road faves, but I don't know if you are aware that UH travel to Rice is about 8 minutes via bus, and entire Rice student body is 3100 students, so its not exactly hostile enemy territory.

I agree that Houston is a pretty solid play.

yes, the judge in another thread brought it to my attention & i also took houston based on the close proximity (sp ?) of the 2 schools.
