Does this Conference EVER put up a good showing when they play real teams?

I love how everyone was on Akron and No. Illinois this week, commenting that these guys are good and this is their year, and shit like that.

I have heard this time and time again each year, and each year they get spanked.

I just don't understand why everyone keeps taking these teams when they play good teams?

The simple fact is that this Conference is a joke, and they will never be able to match up with the REAL Conferences.

Well , yes and no. I have stated in this forum before that this conference was very weak last season and some growing pains should be expected, especially when facing the bigger names in the non conference schedule. That said, the Zips stood toe to toe in the trenches vs. Jo Pa's boys and held their ground very well holding Penn state to just 288 total yards. Akron was very unfortunate to not get the money in this one.

I also thought Northern Ill. played pretty well after a disasterous beginning and had nothing to be ashamed of.
