Betting on baseball this season was about as pleasurable as pissing razor blades. No wait, not quite that pleasurable. Anyway, glad it's over. Now on to football where I sport an unblemished record... 0-0. I'm probably going to Husky hell for this, but here we go...
Okie (-16.5) I've looked at this game from every angle and can't figure this line out to save my life. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big believer in Okie. I thought it was ridiculous that they started #6 and I'm not at all sold on Bomar. However, U-Dub is absolutely awful. They're so awful, they barely edged SJSU at home last weekend. You'll hear talk about Stanback being "mobile" and how Rankin can put up big yardage. Well, I don't think that will happen on Saturday. I expect Rankin to be bottled up and Stanback will spend a good part of the day on his ass. I also expect Peterson to have a huge day against a lackluster Husky D. Combine this with the fact that OU looked awful last weekend and this sets up for a perfect bounceback game for OU. I think they win by at least 24.
Wazzu (-17) The Cougs aren't a great team and they shouldn't have been only +14 last week at Auburn. Having said that, this is yet another good bounceback scenario. Anyone familiar with this "rivalry" knows that Wazzu historically crushes Idaho. No reason to expect anything different this year. Jason Hill is one of the best receivers in the nation and he's going to be looking to show that after Auburn shut him down. Furthermore, Woolridge, if he's healthy, should have his way with Idaho's D. Idaho had an impressive showing last week against MSU but I think that could have been MSU looking past Idaho as much as anything. Erickson will have his team ready and will be looking to score a big win against the team he coached for many years, but I don't think it's gonna happen. I'm thinking 45-17 WSU.
One last bounceback game I like but haven't bet on is Cal -8. I know they looked awful last week but Cal is a very good football team. They will be pissed and ready to go. No Maroney to move the chains for the Gophers this year. I think Cal covers in this one...
