Have you ever herd of a Country called America ? Capitalism ? What the market will bare ? Bottom line : His employer thinks he's worth it. Simple stuff, right ? I personally think its a great concept ! Why waste time wondering why, go get yours.
... and its really not even close either. he's "un-embraceable" to many (and rightfully so), but at the end of the day, he's the most dominant player at his position.
I haven't seen any dominance this year, he hardly played last year and missed a bunch of games the yeaar before. What is an example of his so-called dominance translating into wins for his team?
There are a lot of great recievers in the NFL and if he's the best of them I haven't seen it.
the only players in his league are moss, johnson, and smith.
moss plays when he wants to play and is probably closest to owens in terms of a true game changer.
but hes nowhere near as physical as TO
smith is incredibly valuable to carolina but hes undersized.
johnson is very good. really no weaknesses, but still coming into his own.
harrison is the consumate pro and very smooth, but more a product of indy's system.
but owens is probably the only guy in the league that can truly dominate a game from the wide receiver position. blocking downfield. catching the ball in traffic (though not yesterday). capable of taking a 5 yard hitch to the endzone every single time. ability to beat you deep.
do i like the guy? nah, he's a prick.
but that doesnt mean he isnt the best in the game right now.
