ESPN reports big ben is running a 100 degree fever tonight. Bill asked him to make the call if he starts are not. When asked about it, Ben laughed and said it's never up to me. Linemen say he is to start.

Now Jordan did some great things with the flu but Ben isn't jordan.... or is he?

Cheers

Pit (-3) over Jax
Like the defense, O-line and running game for Pit. Big Ben even sick can hand off the ball. Jax has a lot of injuries on the d-line and the hogs for Pit should control the line of scrimage. I think the Pit blitz package give fits to Letfwhich and his deflated WR corp. Yes they have talent but no superstar WR and they have a lot of youth. Dallas was able to pass with ease on Jax in week one and I think the steelers will use the speed at WR and the underneath man Miller to keep drives alive.I expect Parker to break one if the Jags get burnt on a few passe. Get Darius out of the box and Parker can run past him. Play action will be big in this game because Darius is a VERY instinctive player, got get him looking in the back field and go deep. The defense of Jax gives spaces in zones and the Pitt offense can take advantage. Use the run to set up the pass and Ben has to shake off a lot of rust but IMO he is capible and is looking forward to getting back on the field after an off season that was filed with mishaps.

Cheers

Last year Pitt. knocked Cinn. out of the playoffs and that's who the Steelers have on deck!
That bothers me a bit, the look ahead factor.
What ya think? Will it have any effect on the Steelers?

i was just looking at that myself. not sure if a team would really ever 'overlook' a monday night game. but... this is a non-divisional game and cincy is 2-0 and looking good... obviously that would be a bigger game for pitt than tonight.

i'm sticking with jacksonville tonight. i just saw the stat that they are 8-2 ATS the last 10 against pitt. good enough for me.

Jax has Indy on deck so they could be looking ahead too :)

excellent point. i hadn't noticed that. however, being monday night AND playing the defending super bowl champs... i'd think it's less likely.

i think the biggest factor for the jags will be missing heyward and spicer being at less than full strength. the best defensive line in football is significantly weaker against an opponent who will test your defensive line when it's at its best.

irish, hope you don't mind us kidnapping your thread.
