Kansas City area for who knows how long....
most bettors I know in LV say the best odds are generally found at Coast/Boyd casinos and the CalNeva line you get at Tuscany (mile off strip) and Thirstbusters (in Henderson).

there are reduced vigorish promotions Thursdays that offer -105 lines on football at Hilton (3-11 pm), El Cortez (11am -3pm) and AZ Charlies east and west, plus Stratosphere (most of thurs night).

also -105 line offered at Hard Rock (sides only) Wed 10am-3pm.

vegasinsider has chart of LV sportsbook football lines with handy offshore comparison.

Only hotel in LV I know of that offered computers in room was the Aladdin, for about $10 a day. Don't know if they do anymore. Have to call.

some offer that web-tv thing.

high-speed internet hookups are common in most strip hotels and Golden Nugget downton. Have to bring your own laptop. And cost about $10 a day. Some with big business centers like Hilton and Rio (? have to call) will let you rent a laptop.

Coast/Boyd casinos are:
Barbary Coast ,Gold Coast, The Orleans, Fremont, Sam's Town Hotel , Suncoast, and the Stardust.

Terry:

Did the Stardust close?

I'm heading to Vegas this weekend, and would take one last look inside if it hadn't.

Stardust Hotel/Casino and sportsbook still open

Stardust Hotel/Casino and sportsbook still open

the 'Dust is now scheduled to close Nov. 1.

they were gonna close later in year, with the sportsbook going first, but employee shortages (they announced the closure in January) have forced them to move up the date.

the famous sportsbetting radio show "The Stardust Line" had it's final broadcast June 30. The final weekend b'cast was June 25. They had free food and soft drinks for the cheapskate hungry bettor crowd that night--- I showed up 10 minutes late and almost missed out on it:mj07:

Dave Cokin, Alan Boston and such reminisced about the history. But no one there was around when Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal did the show.

Lefty's also the one who created the big theatre style mega-sportsbook that every place on strip has copied, and was rather glamorously depicted in the movie "Casino".

the old gal has alot of history, and more fossil viewing pleasure available as genuine Las Vegas headliners close the showroom and hotel in final week---Steve and Eydie Gorme!

Then the implosion, but implosion parties aren't what they used to be in Las Vegas. After a string of them, and 9/11, they've kept these events rather lowkey.

the friday night heads-up Stardust Invitational Handicapping tourney is now on KSHP 1400-AM and called "Money Talks". It is hosted by Leroy's sportsbooks, out of the Silverton Casino location. Same format with handicapper explaining each selection and very informative.

"Echelon Place", the $4 billion dollar project replacing the Stardust (and more property, totalling 63 acres) is supposed to open mid 2010.
