The Statue of Liberty Hangs Its Head in Shame: Congress Passes Law Giving Bush, Whose Actions Have Increased the Number of Terrorists and the Threat of Terrorism, Torquemada Torture Powers, the Right to Suspend Habeas Corpus, the Right to Declare Anyone -- Even Americans Enemy Combatants -- Who Could be Tortured And is Granted Retroactive Immunity from War Crimes. This May be the Fall of the Republic.

Kangaroo court 1: a mock court in which the principles of law and justice are disregarded or perverted. 2: a court characterized by irresponsible, unauthorized, or irregular status or procedures. 3: judgment or punishment given outside of legal procedure.

GW While Spys statement is insane to most of us
you have to remember despite MSNBC being low dog in ratings it still is liberals main source for news and when their reports are full of Quotes from Daily Kos and Moveon.org you have to consider source :)

I'm heartbroken,? wrote a blogger with the pseudonym ?Georgia10? at the Daily Kos website. ?It pains me to watch our nation legalize torture with Democrats (so far) offering nothing more than a shrug. Sure, there's grumbling on the left over the torture bill, but can Democrats stop it? Will they even try??

?Why shouldn?t we (i.e., people who maintain some loyalty, however foolish, to the Democratic Party) expect ?our? leaders at least to filibuster the bill until after the election?? asked University of Texas law professor Sanford Levinson, in a posting on the blog ?Balkinization.?

The question for Election Day is: If congressional Democrats don?t find some way to block the detainee bill, will that cause a demoralization of the Democratic base, causing lower turnout on Nov. 7?

?I think there is a risk that rank-and-file Democrats will become angered at Democratic leaders,? said Tom Matzzie, the Washington director for MoveOn.org. ?But we?ll be telling the story that this is George Bush trying to legalize torture and the Republican Congress rubber-stamping it.?

more importantly here is how they voted--
Conn-Ill-Maine-Maryland-Mass-Mich-NJ-NY-RI-Vermont-Washington were all unanimous with both Senators voting Nay

Wonder how many of these senators would be re-elected if gov proclaimed they would give these states some consideration--If we uncover plot in their area by means of these interrogations that they are so adamantly against--we will immediately stop and turn terrorist over to their attorneys for further questioning ;)

You guys miss the whole point

You guys miss the whole point

This is a tool the government can use to rid themselves of anyone who disagrees with them, terrorist or American. They come in the middle of the night and you come up missing. Out of the country tortured and jailed, you, Joe blow American, or Cindy S. This is just the begining. Wait until the Gestapo comes for you. Bush has got you Repubs wipped up about terrorists, there were 7,000 murders in the US last year, Americans killing Americans. You'll alot better off worrying about your next door neighbor killing you than a terrorist. But sheep just follows the @ss in front of them. Bush will march you to your grave, but he won't follow you in.

spy, sometimes i wish bush and company were the fascists you claim them to be,...so you could learn some respect for authority...lol.....

let`s simplify things....regarding,say,coerced interrogation....what i`d do?....

1)you put sheikh khalid mohammad out there....the supposed mastermind of 9/11....

image524996g.jpg

2)you show the most graphic pictures you can find of the bodies(or parts thereof) found after 9/11....the leg found 2 blocks away....the people jumping to their deaths....etc...the really graphic stuff that most have never seen....

3)then you say,"we waterboarded this guy...and he gave us info on other terrorists plotting against the west....about their command and control structure"....

should we not have done it?...

put it up for a referendum....

what do you think happens?...how many here would say,"cut him some slack?"

this is the area in which the bush administration really comes up short....

they never take the gloves off...their p.r. is abominable...

Bush to Cheney I just saw another terrorist. Sorry Dick stand up it was just a tree. WE need to question someone let NYC cops do it. WE don't need new law or to try and go around the Constitution. Bush better just find away to finish Iraq and stop playing games with our soldiers life's.
That vote yesterday was a save your ass vote it's election year. Does not make it good law. I see flip flop Mc Cain fliped again. And I had such high hopes for him. Dam it really is time for a change.

let the cops do it?.....question terrorists?....that was a joke,right?....

as far as the constitition`s concerned...it says "we the people"....not,"we the people and the the un-uniformed combatant/terrorists that want to blow up the people"....

not,"we the people and the people that plotted 9/11"...
not,"we the people and the people that beheaded daniel pearl".....

give `em geneva convention protections?....they`re not signatories.....are countries that didn`t sign on to "nafta" a part of that deal?......

hell, what country are we talking about?...

we`re afraid for our troops?...in real time?...or is that just another mystical, theoretical argument for some future time and place?....

because, the islamists could care less about geneva conventions....

they`re laughing at us...

Iraq had their 911 on Mar 2003

Iraq had their 911 on Mar 2003

and guess what, the bombers stayed. Now Iraqis are terrorists because they want us out of their country. You must remember they did not invade us, we invaded them and they did not attack us first. When Saddam invaded Kawait, he was wrong, when we invaded Iraq we were right. Murder is wrong unless we do it. If the US government stayed out of other countries business the world would be better off, and so would we.

Spy you may be right. Over 68% of Iraqis now wish we would just go any place. And stay there.
They ran out of roses to throw at our soldiers. I see they had to put a nightly curfew back in place in Baghdad.

dj is it possible Mccain is selling out just to win the presidency and then he will turn into the decent man we use to know him to be? Its so sad to see what he is doing. When he was running in the primaries in 00 i thought to myself if i don't vote for him (if he won the primary) im not gonna be mad if he won. Now im not to sure.
