Anyone watch the Chargers game?

I'm just wondering if Marty lost yet another game for his team. I saw the first 2 1/2 quarters and SD was up 13-7. However, Marty was getting VERY conservative with his playcalling. Running on obvious passing downs, acting like the game was almost over, etc. So I'm curious... did Marty's conservative playcalling cost them the game or did SD blow it on their own?

You are absolutely right. I was there. Marty just ran and ran and ran in the second half relying on his defense and it cost him. The Ravens punted on 4th and 1 from the 50 with 5:00 to go and no time outs. The chargers ran three times with two penalties and then took a safety after the Ravens almost blocked a punt. McNair had a bad game, but again was great at the end.

run
run
run
punt

from the "marty moose losing football 101"

jeez when they trailed by 3 with 1 to left and 35 secs to go in the game and needed 40+ yards to get in fg range marty moose still only had 2wr out there and 2 te's

sd might make the playoffs but you know marty and the playoffs

:sadwave:

Somehow I'm not surprised. I should have known better than to bet on Marty. I think SD is 1,000times better than the Ravens but their coach is a doorknob. I understand playing it safe with Rivers but when you start playing not to lose in the 3rd quarter with a 6-point lead maybe you shouldn't be an NFL coach...

San Diego fan here.

Marty has been doing this to the Chargers for years. At least now he can use a first year QB as an excuse, but even then it gets old. Rivers has the talent and he has the best TE and RB in the game. How this offense doesn't do a whole lot more is beyond me. Teams know he becomes ultra-conservative late. Throw in a play action pass and hit Gates down the middle or K-Mc on a streak. Just another in a long line of frustrating Chargers losses in the Marty era.

Yeah, I can imagine your frustration. The funny thing is as much as people like to hype McNair I'm not so sure he's any better than Rivers... aside from the experience factor of course...

i dont think you can blame marty for OL jumping off sides or the punt that got a good roll instead someone holds etc ... FG kicker misses 2 etc ...

in 4q sd went r/p/p then r/r/p ... then backed up late in game they kept going offsides and he ran every play and punted

anyhow, i love sd and bet ravens but this wasnt a game i felt you can blame on him

my 2 cents
