I sent this via email to Senator Frist at 2:30PM today.

Senator, as a former Tennessean now living in Indiana, I have seen your rise to power from afar. I'm a life long Republican and very active in my city and county party. I never thought I would be moved to write a message that includes my OUTRAGE at you and the REPUBLICAN PARTY, but after passage of the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act I can promise you this... I WILL DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO SEE THAT YOU OR ANY REPUBLICAN WHO SUPPORTED THIS BILL IS VOTED OUT OF OFFICE. THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD EVER SUPPORT YOUR EFFORTS IF/WHEN YOU CHOOSE TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. I can not for the life of me understand why you think this is "important legislation". Do we not have other things to worry about, such as a war in Iraq, North Korea, poverty, unemployment, etc.? Why is it that Congress wants to take away more and more freedoms on a daily basis? You are forcing people away from the party and delivering them to the Democrats. While we are on the subject of cleaning things up, I suggest that you and every other member of Congress take a good long look in the mirror. The news for the Republican Party coming out of Washington is DISGUSTING. Are you TRYING to GIVE away the upcoming elections to the Democrats... let alone the WHITE HOUSE in 2 years? Rep. Mark Foley is a DISGRACE. Rep. Tom DeLay had to resign from office earlier this year due to a scandal as well. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? Why is it ok for state run lotteries, horse tracks, etc. to operate but you wish to deny me the right to bet $25 on a football game? Your priorities are OUT OF WHACK! You are leading this country down a road I'm afraid we will never recover from.

Thanks bud. Just hope that nobody in my district finds out I ragged out the Republican Party since I'm running for City Council, LOL. :mj07:

By the way, can you still play on Friday? I hope so... it would be me, you, Snack and Steve Wilkerson.

Just sent this email:

Senator Frist,

Six months ago, I was a strong supporter of the Republican party on a local, state, and federal level. It pains me to continually watch my own Senator tear me so far apart from the party who I have always identified with. Your assault on personal freedoms of late is a very clear statement that you have your own advancement ahead of your constituents.

Quote from your website:
"September 29th, 2006 - Gambling is a serious addiction that undermines the family, dashes dreams, and frays the fabric of society."

But the gambling addiction does not affect lottery players? Have you ever noticed that steady revenue stream provided by our state-run lottery? Under your "head in the sand" approach and statement, people spending paychecks on a "chance" to win a jackpot does not fall under this addiciton. I am unaware of any training programs for convenient store clerks on assessing and helping a patron with a gambling problem. It is a documented fact that many publicly traded gambling outfits do this very thing for their clients.

I am not a gambler, but this bill does raise a passionate response due to the nature and passion you have shown.

Gambling addiction is a problem, but what you are doing does not provide our citizens any help. A modern-day Prohibition is the furthest thing from what we need. Legal operations with regualtions on client profiling would be a much more effective avenue. The threat of lawsuits, alone, would greatly encourage legal outfits to do everything they can to shut down any clients showing a pattern of addiction. But these thoughts seem to be ignored by you and others whom we have granted the PRIVILAGE to represent us.

Border control, terrorism, a failing education system, a failing welfare sytem: these are just a few of the issues that I elected you to be concerned with. Your irresponsible use of power is the exact reason why I will be campaigning for any candidate that runs against you.

With sincerity,
<name removed>

That's actually a semi-true statement. I made that statement as opposed to sports wagering. I conveniently did forget about playing online poker, though.

I will never understand why some of you guys couldn't just put the political parties aside and vote for the person you think is best suited to do the best job.
