Chicago radio is terrible. They NEED to bring back stern!

having come out here from dc and enjoying Don & Mike in the afternoons, and howard in the mornings... i now drive in chicago and listen to absolute crap.
Opie and anthony are mildly fun at best.. and in the afternoon? forget it. its dead air here.
And these are the shows that seem to be the high rated ones too... I can see why howard might not have done well in the chicago market. People here just don't get it.

one thing i dont get though.. with those articles saying stern got "fired" in chicago... didnt the radio station just choose not to air his broadcast? its not like he was on the payroll of that radio station sitting in their chair each morning.

? I just got the ondemand service and have been laughing my ass off ever since:mj07:

been listening to howard since i graduated highschool.i believe the show is as funny as ever,laugh my ass off every morning and im not a morning person,and with the replay i listen to the last 2 hours 1st and switch over for the 1st 1/2 of the show.
not as many high profile guests as before,but the incensored comedy makes up for that bigtime.fkn hilarious...I dont care much for the sivian b/c i dont have on demand...And artie is fuking hilarious to,didnt like him much on radio but satilite fits him better and hes great....ROBIN HAS TO GO she fukn suks and is very annoying,more than ever.howard has made her millions and she a fkn bitch,acts very smart ,thinks she is but somethings she says are so dumb and nobody calls her out on it,but shes the 1st to call somebody an idiot.

In the latest jolt to America's most famous "shock jock" Howard Stern has been fired from a Chicago radio station for the second time in two years. WCKG-FM (105.9) which has carried Stern's New York-based syndicated morning show since last March cited unspecified problems with "on-air content" for pulling the plug, effective immediately. His last show aired Friday. Stern, 41, previously aired in Chicago on the former WLUP-AM -- now known as WMVP-AM (1000) for 10 months before he was fired in August 1993. "Over the past couple of months, we here at WCKG have become philosophically uncomfortable with some of Howard's on-air content," said vice-president Mike Disney, vice president and general manager of WCKG.

Shock jock Howard Stern and G. Gordon Liddy on the same Chicago station-WJJD-AM? That's the speculation after WCKG-FM general manager Mike Disney, who said he "felt uncomfortable" with Stern's often-inflammatory material, pulled the plug Friday on the controversial, New York-based talker after a six-month run.

This is the second time in two years Stern has been dropped in Chicago; WLUP's Larry Wert-subject of subsequent Stern tirades on WCKG-did it in August '93 for similar reasons. But with ratings "quite excellent" this time, insiders speculate the show will get picked up quicker, and an Infinity Broadcasting station, which owns all-talk WJJD-AM, is the likely spot due to its Stern syndication ties.



SUMMATION: Stern Show Pit-Stop
Stern fans and detractors should realize that Howard's switch over to WJJD 1160am was simply a PIT-STOP in the race to win in Chicago. Howard's swift move to Infinity's talk outlet is proof that Howard's show does work in Chicago, if you've got the balls to air it. All parties involved agreed that the split was "amicable" and that Howard's ratings were on the rise. Unlike Evergreen's WLUPam, WCKG did settle with Howard on the remainder of his contract.

"There's 37 guys doing my act in Chicago and you're asking me to tone it down. I got a guy sending me boxes of doodie in the mail. What do the think I'm going to do, sit back and take that!", Howard said of WCKG and Mancoward. Mancow and his fans may have felt a victory for 30 seconds, but I'm sure when they heard Howard was back on in Chicago, there was a rush to their colons like a bad case of diarrhea.

Those were articles from over the years when Howard got fired at least a few times from different stations while he was on regular radio here.

I guess they are fake though or misleading somehow because I was told he was on one station for ten years straight.

As far as finding him funny, to each his own.

99% of his stuff has been done before in one form or another. It just has never been heard before by his current listening audience. I'm sorry, he may have originated the RADIO BIT (that's on the radio) when he brings in some sluts to the studio and he talks shiit to them while they tell him they would do anything for his affections as they strip or stroke themselves. That's all Howard.

Of course, I never got the humor in the Cosby show or Friends either. I'm sure I'm "not getting it" again.
