I would love thoughts... mine are Va Tech has beaten absolutely knoeone... however, BC has proven tough at home, but they haven't faced a Beamer ball team... I want to hear thoughts as this game has me baffled... BC still has the big, dominating OL and they are solid, but Beamer on National TV??? Let me hear your thoughts as I want to play this game, but can't decide...

I am very biased, but unlike alot of teams, Beamer's usually dont fall apart after a loss. They usually bounce back. BC does have that big OL so they can afford a few mistakes and still bein it. I think the teams are very evenly matched, I think VT strength is their front 7, they have a very good run defense thanks to the LB tandem of adibi and hall. I think VT can shut down BC, but I jus dont know about VT on offense, they can throw short passes and run well enoug, but stop them on any possession and they have a tough time because they are not comfortable throwing the ball midrange-deep yet. Beamers impressive record and their very strong D is enough to lean towards VT cover, but I am not on it, maybe lean towards the over, pretty similar matchup as BC/clemson earlier.

GL and hope hokies win

i am all over the hokies -2.5.....their first national big time game of the year and they are coming off a bye after being embarassed by GT and sloppy play. Look for VT to win by ATLEAST 10

I just read this in my local paper that Va Tech receiver Josh Hyman has been charged by campus police with driving under the influence.Beamer suspended Hyman for a violation of team rules for what is expected to be today`s game.

Hyman is a wide receiver and ranks 2ND on the team in receptions with 13.He has 102 receiving yards.

I like the home team getting points. This is not one of Beamer's better teams. They have played a pretty weak schedule and failed the only test (Georgia Tech). Meanwhile, BC beat 2 very good teams at home (Clemson and BYU). Although both games went to OT. I got 3- early in the week and I like a good team getting points here.

Ya...just heard that about the receiver...what a fock'n dumbazz!!!! Way to set your team up for a big game by causing distractions.....I've been on VT since Tues, so hoping that incident doesn't cause too much damage......VT wins a "close" one......GL!

I just played BC +3.5 (-120) for 8*... Va Tech should be a little distracted plus this isn't your normal Va Tech club. Sure Beamer is awesome on Thursday nights, etc., but tough to pass up points with BC at home. ML was only BC +120 so oddsmakers obviously think BC can win this game. I'm going to grab some points for a little cushion. I also expect the public to love Va Tech which makes me like BC even more.

Virginia Tech just does not run the ball as well as recent
editions of the Virginia Tech offense. When the quarterback
is not a threat to break runs, this offense really loses a lot
of its potential. Everything is down on the rushing side of
the ball, and when Virginia Tech becomes normal on offense,
the only teams they can beat are the weak willies who cave
in and make mistakes against their defense -- like North
Carolina did.

Don't count Boston College among the weak willies that caves
in to opponents.

UT-LONGHORN, I think, posted a chart displaying pointspreads and their respective MLs. He would play games when the ML was off the suggested price, usually with success. This ML is spot on with the spread in this game, so I would be careful when considering your angle.

Here are some stats that everyone should consider...I'm on the Hokie side tonight of course..

AVERAGE SCORE AGAINST: 12.2 RANK 9
TOTAL YARDS: 243.8 RANK 8
RUSHING YARDS: 103.4 90 RUSHING YARDS: 103.6 RANK 8
PASSING YARDS: 244.2 31 PASSING YARDS: 140.2 RANK 6

This is a very good deffensive team which will sack the SH%$) out of BC's QB.

BYU could have beaten this team at home if it weren't for an overtime breakdown.

BYU doesn't have half the athleticism of VTech...

GL

My cap is VT by DD

Not really impressed with the defensive stats when the games were against Northeastern/North Carolina/Duke/Cinci and Geo Tech, who rung 38 on their ass.

And Reggie Ball is not impressive to me at all, as he is very inaccurate and should have a lot better numbers considering he is throwing to Johnson.

I think everyone is looking at VaTech and thinking of the old VaTech, but O'Briens teams ALWAYS come out well coached and well schemed. I dont care about VaTechs record in previous Thursdays, unless Vick and K Jones are eligible for this game.

B.C. ran into a new QB that ended up being a big difference for N.C. State. Clemson win was solid, even though they were outgained in yardage. BYU is a team nobody likes to play with solid QB play and a tough offense.

Plus it's not easy to play at B.C....if it was at VaTech it might be a diff story.

Marra,

Excellent breakdown of the game as I couldn't say it anybetter myself. Va Tech's defensive stats should be good considering they have played the little sisters of the poor (excluding Ga Tech). I think this will be a close game and this is my reason for taking 3.5 points with BC.

GLTA and I enjoy the helpful insight from all the posters @ MJ's.

Some trends I found on another site.

Virginia Tech: VATCH are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 Thu. games.
VATCH are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 road games.
VATCH are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games in October.

Boston College: BCOLL are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games in October.
Over is 6-2-1 in BCOLL last 9 home games.
Under is 6-2 in BCOLL last 8 night games.

Head to Head: Home team is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 meetings.
Road team is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 meetings.

I dont know if you guys have heard but BC's kicker got suspended for a bar fight earlier in the week and they are using a kid who has never played in a football game in his life. he used to play soccer. it could come into effect and beamers special teams might make them pay. saying all that i like BC +3 lol

I'm not a big fan of trends. Sure, some will argue a trend is your friend, but you need to realize it's past data and doesn't accurately reflect the future.

I know Va Tech is world beaters on Thursday nights as well... however, Michael or Marcus Vick aren't playing QB and this will be VT's toughest game so far this season. Just a feeling they lose, but gladly grabbing the points.

Adding the following plays as well:

Colorado State +7 (-120) for 2.5* & Temple +45 for 2*... not big on either game, but I like the points in each game.
