Some reasoning:
1) I really like O'Brian and what he brings to the table week in and week out. Very rarely do you see his teams show up for a game unprepared. I've had good success backing him over the years and he is 12 games above .500 in conference play in his career. This is not to say I don't like Beamer, but I think his smoke an mirror tricks are starting to grow tired.
2) In VaTech's lone game against competition with a pulse (GT), they had just 42 rushing yds and were killed in the trenches all day. The majority of their passing yardage came after they trailed 38-13. This is not a good football team.
3) VaTech's young offensive line is horrid, giving up 7 sacks in their last two outings vs Cinci and BC. They will likely give up 3-4 more on Thursday. Conversely, BC has given up just 6 sacks total in their 4 difficult games vs CMU (very good front 7), NCSU, BYU and Clemson.
4) This game opened at VT -2'. That's almost enough to play this in and of itself. Joe P is loving the Hokies this week.
The one issue I have with the play is VaTech's stellar record on Thursday nights, but I really like BC everywhere that counts.
