SC (-3.5) over Vandy
The win gives SC focus in this game. Spurrir has the QB he needs to make his offense move the ball. Vanderbilt's defense has been fantastic. Michigan got 27, Arkansas got 21, and Georgia got 22, with seven being generated by the Bulldog D. The Vanderbilt offensive line has had to undergo an overhaul after the loss of starting tackle Brian Stamper to back surgery and starting guard Josh Eames to an ankle injury. South Carolina will dink and dunk all game long, while the defense will generate the most pressure Chris Nickson has faced all year long. The Gamecocks got solid performances from QB Syvelle Newton, RB Cory Boyd and WRs Sidney Rice and Kenny McKinley, and the offensive line showed some progress in their most recent win over Kentucky. The Gamecocks also need plenty of work in the secondary after Kentucky passed for 289 yards and moved the ball up and down the field late in the game, prompting coach Steve Spurrier to threaten using receivers to replace defensive backs late in the game. The Gamecocks may be second in the SEC in passing defense, but that's a bit deceptive since most opponents prefer to run the ball on a defense ranked 10th in the SEC in rush defense, allowing 149 yards per game. he Commodores are tied with Alabama for sixth in the SEC in scoring defense, allowing 17.6 points per game. For the Commodores to improve, they'll have to be better against the run (146 yards per game) and force more turnovers (only nine takeaways in seven games). Still IMO those numbers are a little inflated because trhey haven't played the best teams. Yhe faxt they they are coming off such a big win the Commandors might be a bit spent but they will be up for this game as will the Gamecocks. Newell needs to play big and IMO there isn;t enough talentto stay with Rice. Newell will be able to run when the play breaks down. The mix of the SC offense, hard nosed defense, and coaching staff give me the edge in this game.

Cheers

Tenn (-11) over Alabama
I am not sold on Bama this year but Tenn will focus their full effort on them. Putting up 44 offensive points two weeks ago against a Georgia team allowing only 6.8 points per game, the Vols made a dramatic statement about their growth as an offensive football team. With QB Erik Ainge, three capable backs and three dangerous receivers playing behind an offensive line that has played much better the past two weeks, the Vols lead the SEC with 35.2 points and 421.5 yards per game. Tennessee is allowing 19 points and 290 yards per game. Despite season-ending injuries to two starters, the Vols are getting better by the week with seven new starters. With 434 total yards against Ole Miss for its second-best total of the season, as well as 228 rushing yards and 21 first downs, Alabama is in the top six in the SEC in total, rushing and passing offense. Yet, with only two touchdowns in regulation against Ole Miss, Alabama continues to struggle in the red zone with only 11 touchdowns on 32 trips inside opponent's 20-yard line. That makes the Crimson Tide seventh in the SEC in scoring, with 24.4 points per game. Alabama is last in the SEC with only six sacks. Despite the lack of sacks, the Crimson Tide still ranks first in a more important category with 17 takeaways, including 10 INTs. The SEC's two best receivers will be on display with Alabama's D.J. Hall and Tennessee's Robert Meachem. Phil Fulmer is 10-3 against Alabama and will get his 11th with several big plays from the passing game and a nice, but not sensational day from the D. Considering the Defense, the offense, the offensive Co, the talent at WR the Vols have an edge, then you have to look at the Tenn defense and the home field advantage to add to that edge. IMO alabama is a bit over sold this year and Tenn should have too much speed and talent on both sides of the ball in this game.

LSU(-32) over Fresno
Tigers have outscored opponents 236-30 in five home contests this season and 376-84 in 10 consecutive wins at Tiger Stadium. The Tigers look to improve upon their 21-1 record against Western Athletic Conference teams as they head into a bye week. LSU is vowing not to look ahead as it get set to face a Fresno State squad that has lost five in a row, including a 69-37 defeat to Hawaii on Saturday. Bulldogs are allowing 31.2 points per game, good news for LSU, which leads the SEC with 35.6 points per game and is second in total offense with 417.7 yards. Tigers, who rank first in the country in pass efficiency defense (81.8 rating) and total defense (211.7 yards per game). LSU is holding opponents to 8.6 points per game, second-fewest in the nation. The Tigers have intercepted 11 passes, led by Craig Steltz's four and Jonathan Zenon's three, and returned two for touchdowns. FSU pass defense been abysmal, but Russell has been out of this world at home so far. In five games, the junior has completed 76 of 98 passes (78%) for 1,203 yards and 12 touchdowns with only one interception. Fresno has not been playing well, while LSU has looked very good at home. The LSU defense should be a BIG problem for Fresno and the offense should have a LOT of success passing the ball. Nice job of getting this game 2 weeks before Tenn, should have the tigers focused and ready for Fresno and its gonna hurt the bulldogs as they go into Death Valley at night.

ND (-13) over UCLA
Stanford 31-10 at home Oct. 7. Notre Dame totaled 436 yards of offense, as Brady Quinn went 27-for-37 for 232 yards and three touchdowns, and Darius Walker rushed 25 times for a season-high 153 yards and a TD. Notre Dame's high-powered offense has been at its best the past few weeks, averaging 35.3 points during the three-game win streak. Quinn directs a passing game that ranks 12th in the nation with 273.5 yards per game, and the Irish complement that by averaging 106.8 rushing yards per game. UCLA is allowing only 167.7 passing yards per game and 84.3 on the ground, 15th-best in the country. Cowan's throat swelled, and he coughed up blood. A doctor ordered him not to speak Monday, and if he has little or no voice this week, play-calling could be a major issue for UCLA. The Bruins have lost both road games this season and four straight away from home. After last year?s off week, Charlie Weis nearly coached the Irish to a monumental upset of USC. He won?t need nearly the same performance to beat this Los Angeles school, but will have the Irish similarly prepared in a coast-to-coast victory. The Bruin D sprung a couple of leaks in Eugene last week, but still leads the Pac-10 in total defense and is second in scoring defense. With linemen Justin Hickman and Bruce Davis winning the interior battle with an overrated Irish line, UCLA will make plays for negative yards, adding to its 16 takeaways this season. However the Irish play well at home and this is a big game for them. They should be looking to unleash on this defense which I think is bit overhyped. The ND defense will still have to play well because the Bruins have talent. At home, off a bye week, hurting 2nd string QB and ND height at WR give me more reasons for this play.

Oregon (-3.5) over Wash St
The Ducks recaptured the offensive balance that made them so lethal in September, getting three touchdown passes and a 100-yard day from RB Jonathan Stewart. Wazzu simply can?t score enough points to go stride-for-stride with the league?s better offenses. Against Cal last week, the Cougars were held without a touchdown for the first time in six years, lowering their scoring average to 16 points in games not involving Idaho. They?re getting manhandled up front, which means a long day for QB Alex Brink and the disappearing running attack. The Cougar D has been stout since the opener with Auburn. It hasn?t allowed a touchdown pass the last two weeks and held Cal to 21 points, the first team in five games to keep the Bears south of 40. Wazzu can?t win a track meet with Oregon, but it can pull the upset by pressuring Dennis Dixon with the nation?s top sack unit and turning the game into a low-scoring defensive struggle. Last year, the Ducks rallied from an 11-point deficit in the second half and beat the Cougars 34-31 on Paul Martinez's 19-yard field goal with one second left. Brink threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns, but also had two costly interceptions that allowed Oregon to rally. This year IMO the oregon offense is clicking a bit better. Dixon needs to limit mistakes with his passing and make plays with his legs. Using Stewart out of the back field on screens and bubble passes will get a LOT of production. The deefnse isn't great but IMO the ducks have enough to get by the Cougars even though they are a good home team.

GT (+7) if the jackets can win in blacksburg, playing at clemson won't be too tough. Like the jackets defense against the clemson offes. A lot of tiger injuries that may be the difference today. The Tigers are the highest-scoring team in the nation, averaging 43.9 points per game, and sixth nationally in total offense, posting 459.0 yards. Running back James Davis is tied for first in the country with 14 rushing touchdowns. Should be a good game but considering that Clemson should have lost to Wake and they are spotting 7 I'll take a chance on Ball to step up. Not sure they CB's of Clemson can stay with the Johnsons. The Jackets will keep them honest will a running threat. Also think Ball will have to run the ball if GT wants a shot at winning the game which they can do.

Smaller Play
Hawaii (-20.5) they are playing tough even away from the island. Think they can pass with a lot of success tonight. If Boise threw more last week against this team they would have covered. Seeing how wellNew Mex state played last week they could make a game of this. But IMO Boise didn't hold entensity during that game. They got up 21 nothing and let off the gass. The coaches for Hawaii will get them in the game and Hawaii only knows how to score points they do not milk the clock. Brennen is a very good QB and he should be able to pick and choose his targets tonight.

Thats it for me guys I have a date with a bottle and glass!

Rut/Pitt UNDER (44)

Rutgers is off to an impressive 6-0 start behind their defense that gives up less than 9 points a game. Pittsburgh has a devastating defense of their own giving up less than 14 points a game. Now thats really enough for me.
