Chargers' Merriman suspended for steroids

Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman has been notified he will be suspended for four games for violating the NFL's steroids policy, league and team sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
Merriman's positive test was "definitely for steroids ? not one of those supplement deals" said a source with knowledge of Merriman's suspension.

Merriman's suspension originally was to be announced last Tuesday when two other players -- the Falcons' Mark Lehr and the Lions' Shaun Rogers -- were suspended for violating the policy. But Merriman reserved the right to appeal his suspension, so it was not announced.

Neither the Chargers, nor Merriman, could be reached for comment Sunday night.

Earlier Sunday the Chargers lost to the Chiefs 30-27 in Kansas City.

wait.......i thought baseball was the sport with the steroid problem??????

i thought these football players that are 6-2 250 and gain 30 pounds in an offseason are just "hard workers"

But moreover and saddest thing is Ive read some articles and seen him interviewed and guy actually seemed like a quality dude, so much for how much you can know anyone in our position ... thing that stood out about him in one deal i read was how his home burned down 3xs as a kid then in HS he gathered 500 winter coats in a clothing drive and gave them to homeless people ...

why do guys do this? I thought he was prob best LB in game and now tainted for life ... Bosworth prob wouldve never been anything w/o roids, not sure case for merriman, but who knows ... im with tulah, send a message: any BS in blood and boot em, Sayers and Unitas, Aaron and Musial didnt need juice ... sickening
