I always remember liking him, and then I got his "George Carlins Favorites" dvd from netflix tonight, it is where he picks out his favorite bits from over the years and I have to say I laughed maybe once or twice.

Just not half as funny as I remembered the guy, though I think his comedy stands the test of time because it is mostly wordplay he just goes way over the edge with it in alot of these skits and I find him getting so worked up and asking the stupidest questions

He had a new special last year on HBO... that is what I am refering to... I didn't laugh out loud once. A lot of awkward silence between my roommates and I, sitting through that.

I went to see him a couple of years ago and his skit was very morbid. Alot of people got up and walked out. Half of it was on suicide and getting off by jerking off while hanging yourself. It was not funny. He has turned into a cynical old man.
He was funny as hell back when I was in H.S.
Not any more.

I remember this one from the 60's

(telephone) Ring-Ring

George: Hello

Girl: Hello George, This is Sylvia.

George: Sylvia?

Sylvia: Yes, Sylvia. I met you in Vegas about 5 months ago. You said I was a good sport.

George: Oh Yeah, Sylvia. Hey, how you doing?

Sylvia: I'm pregnant and I'm going to jump out a window,

George: Hey...Sylvia...You ARE a good sport.

Tell you the truth, I never cared for comedians who had to use vulgarity to shock the audience.

Groucho Marx, Red Skelton, Flip Wilson and Carol Burnett were a rare breed.

"Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told. Think about it, religion has actually convinced people that there's an INVISIBLE MAN...LIVING IN THE SKY...who watches every thing you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten special things that he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish where he will send to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry for ever and ever ?til the end of time...but he loves you."
