Using ancestry.COM or geology.COM. Just wondering if anyone had any advice or experience with this.

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
go to any nice big city library and you can access all the databases for free that these places charge money for. And have the research librarian there to help you.

but these sites do have tons of stuff. You can try the free trials. First do a search on 1930 census to see yer grandpa's household handwritten in there...

Terry hopefully can get together someday with you in Vegas at sb party. You seem like you know your shit about Dam near everything. Thank you for the advise, only thing is I'm looking at this as a project to do while I'm trapped in bed from surgery, just something to keep busy. So library really not a option. Thank you for your help.

then it would be a good project for the bed-bound. best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Hope to see you at SB party!

There are a bunch of ancestry organizations and discussion forums online, look into all those for tons of expert advice.

And the reference librarian specializing in ancestry research at Boston city library would be glad to help you over the phone.

When a cousin of a buddy of mine did the full family research, she put all the info, documents, lotta pictures, some video, and songs one dude recorded in 30s on a single DVD and gave it out copies to all in family. Really cool!
