OKLAHOMA vs. MISSOURI ? Saturday, October 28th ? 2:00 PM EST
The Sooners have literally owned this Missouri team by winning the past five times these schools have played. Sound familiar? Oklahoma also dominated Texas for five years but the days of the Sooners ruling the Big 12 are a thing of the past and Missou has found new life behind sophomore QB Chase Daniels while the Okies are playing without the two players that were expected to provide them with the boost needed to bring the team back to prominence. A deeper team like say, Louisville has been able to survive offensive losses like this but this version of the Land Stealers does not compare to the likes of Louie and losing both Bomar and Peterson is simply not something that Stoops will be able to overcome.
Granted, second string RB Allen Patrick stepped in after Peterson went down and gained 110 yards last week but that effort was against the worst team that Colorado has fielded in a very long time and it took Patrick 35 carries to reach that number. For the mathematically challenged, that is a mere 3.1 yards per carry against a team that lost it?s opener to Montana State and has one single win this season. By the way, that per carry average is slightly below Patrick?s 3.2 yards this season so I am far from impressed although the coaching staff found it appropriate to award him the game ball. Guess what Bobby, Missouri is not apt to lay down for you like the Buffalos did and while Okie QB Peterson has been adequate as a last minute substitute for Bomar, OT Branndon Braxton will not play due to an injury and his absence poses a serious concern for an offense that is very run oriented.
The Tigers feature sophomore QB Chase Daniels, who for those that have not been keeping track, has already set a new Buffalo single season passing touchdown record at 14 with four games remaining. This guy has been extremely proficient as the general of this offense and Colorado?s shotgun formation should be able to negate the strength of the Sooners? defensive line. Missou is allowing less that 15 points while averaging over 33 points per game and should be able to keep this one in a similar range.
The Verdict: MISSOURI (-1?) 5 Units
