although ole chunky Campbell was pretty brutal today, Pittsburgh s Favorite son big ben Roethlishitburger definitely took the cake. Single handed giving Oakland their only 2 touchdowns, the best being a 100 yard superb effort. Pittsburgh twice on the 1 yard line, first down, not only don't score any points, but scored Oakland 7, that's nearly impossible. Pittsburgh is a joke, good luck with that big MAC SUPERB STUD QUARTERBACK.

pt1, i don't know how those ratings are calculated, but carr must know how to manipulate the system:mj07:

i watched him today for 3q in nashville and he was terrible to watch. i don't know how to explain it, but i am not sure he completed a pass that was for more than 10 yds the entire day. he may be having a good year, but his team is losing a lot as always and that has to count for something. the texan def was not great today, but they didn't give up 2 of those td's. one was a fr td and the other was a punt return td.

QB rating is probably the most useless statistic ever, as evidenced by Carr #4, and Brady 12th. I'll take Brady above any and all NFL quarterbacks excerpt possibly Manning, and Manning has had Harrison, Wayne, Edge for his career, while Brady has won 3 super bowls & 2 Super Bowl MVP s with the likes of,David Patton, David Givens, Dion Branch, and Kevin faulk and Antoine Smith.

What has Donovan done anyway. I see this guy make more ridiculous decisions, like with the game in the bag with 2 minutes remaining throw interception to Dallas last season Monday night.

Run around endlessly and take sack and let clock expire, blowing Easy Field goal opportunity, I've seen him do this 3 or 4 times.:nono:

Donovan can have his rating, he still hasn't won anything.

i guess the #1 rating is a hoax too, and that montana being at the top during his time made lil sense ... yes mcnabb hasnt won it all, but hes been in many title games, marino never won a crown, nor son of a preacher boy, sonny jurgenson, and many others ... mailman and stockton and on and on ...

you are in NE and have the best coach and yes some luck in winning super bowls, trust me, I like Pats and respect them alot, but dont fall into trap denigrating others b/c your team is fortunate enuff to have some titles ... appreciate that instead of saying "what have others won?" ...

I used to get into discussions with my best pal when he said Crum had two titles and Dean only one, then when Dean won #2 he let up some but said he shoulda won more ... heck, the wizard lost a semi once when up 7 in OT ... coach k has been there many times with best team and not won, yet hes Mr guru ...

i grew up in dallas and watched Landry lose to GB in 2 excrutiating losses and he was labeled all sorts of things for losing to the greatest pro coach ever ...

like i said I know its easy to say so and so is horrible when we lose money of them etc, i am certainly guilty of that, but the truth is with 30+ teams in leagues nowadays, winning it all is tricky and often comes down to tuck rules and having your line block to make that last long FG

McNabb doesn't have a ring, but he is definitely one of the top five quarterbacks in the league. Not bad for a guy who plays on a team without a running game. Think about that, every week he goes out there and the opposing defense knows he's going to throw the ball 7 out of every 10 snaps, and he still puts up big numbers. I'm sick and tired of the McNabb bashing. Not only is he a great quarterback, he is the classiest player in the league. The NFL would be a much better league with more guys like Donovan.

Gregg, this has absolutely nothing to do with losing a bet, as I stopped betting on or against Eagles several years ago strictly because of Donovan. Theguy makes absolutely horrible decisions, just like Bledsoe, that guy used to drive me crazy, couldn't bet for or against Patriots for years, because you never knew when Drew would freeze and take sacks standing in the pocket. Donovan also makes terrible decisions, usually running around trying to do to much taking huge losses. I've even heard Dick McPherson his college coach speak about that, comparing him to Bledsoe, McPherson coached Patriots here years ago.

Wise, I'll give you he is a very likable classy guy, but I can't agree top 5 QB. And what is wrong with Westbrook, I would take him above Antoine Smith, or half the other NFL backs. Didn't Donovan ever play was Ricky Waters??

I agree totally...If you want to complain about something...complain about your own capping. Nobody put a gun to your head and forced you to play any of these teams. Donovan is doing something only a handful of people can ever say they did...quarterbacking an NFL franchise.

It's funny how you never hear anybody say things like "Maybe I shouldn't have played the Eagles this week. They were laying almost 10 points against a team that was humiliated last week by the mighty Texans. They are coming off two stomach punch losses of their own and Jacksonville put their gimpy QB on the bench to start a guy with a lifetime 5-1 record as a starter. Besides that, the Eagles have never beat the Jags in three tries."

Nah, it is much easier to say so-and-so is overrated.

Shamrock,

Nothing is wrong with Westbrook. Brian is a great player when he is healthy. My point is, the Eagles aren't committed to running the football. Reid will run the ball 3 or 4 times every 10 snaps. The Eagles like to use Westbrook as a receiving back. McNabb is not a top 5 quarterback! Who is better? Here is my top 5 in order:

Brady
Manning
McNabb
Hasselbeck
Brees

i do believe for a long time eagles had an incredible ATS on the road under mcnabb, close to unparalleled... but the crux of my post wasnt to "prove" anyone was right or wrong, just some perspective to overall scheme of fine line to winning and losing in sports at any level ... and mcnabb really hasnt ever had a #1 premier back or WR, other than TO the idiot, which i didnt even mention

thanx forthe comments guys and gl to all :)

Wise, I completely agree eagles don't run the ball enough. I think we both would agree NFL is in a down time for great quarterbacks, its certainly not the '80s with Marino, Kelly, Montana, Favre, Aikman, Moon, etc. etc. that said above Donovan I would put
definitely Brady
possibly both Manning Brothers
brees
hasslebeck
Bulger
Palmer
Favre(not currently, but career)
Mcnair (same as above)
maybe currently you can make a valid case for #5, but there are so many TEAMS WITHOUT QUARTERBACKS CURRENTLY.

Buffalo, jets, Miami, TN, Kansas City, San Francisco, Detroit, Chicago, Tampa, Washington, etc. I know some of these could pan out, i.e. Grossman, but little talent league Wise at QB in my opinion.

Wayne World, why don't you read the thread, before shooting your mouth off. The thread was about how incredibly poor day the Pittsburgh quarterback had, if you read in the thread, I said I never bet on Philly strictly because of Donovan, and they were giving 7-,not 10. I don't mind or have a problem with criticizing myself for betting the wrong side, I made a horrible play on Carolina last night. That's not what this thread was about. It was about the poor performance of Pittsburgh quarterback.

This thread cracks me up. I am a Steelers fan and lost big yesterday like everyone else, but I don't blame Big Ben only. Steelers offense has many many problems and QB is not in the top 5. Hell, I'll give you 5...

1. OFFENSIVE LINE SUCKS
2. OFFENSIVE LINE SUCKS
3. OFFENSIVE LINE SUCKS
4. OFFENSIVE LINE SUCKS
5. YES, THE OFFENSIVE LINE STILL FAWKIN' SUCKS!!

Starks and Hartings couldn't block my gramps yesterday. Nice effort fellas!

Donavan Mcnabb was so nad on Sunday I thought I was banned from this site posting how bad he was

I dont want to go back and use cosines and tangents to prove anything
My proof was my eyes and Donavan CANNOT blame his horrendous game on anything but being sooooo bad.

He is one game closer to retirement and that last game he was pathetic,,

When they sit down and "grade out" the "last game played" (always the fun part of the football week, remember that one guys) He will have to answer for just how worthless he was. Now to Mcnabbs credit he will accept the blame of sucking like a man.. (I respect him for his honest approach to accountability)
BUT MAN HE SCREWED THE POOCH BLIND LAST WEEKEND.. (But I think he will be the 1st to tell us that)

SHAMMY Sorry to highjack your thread for the 200th time...
Did you go to North vs. Stoughton..??
Talk about some awful play calling. I think the coaches cost us that one.. Plus the fact that North has NO secondary or Safetys who can play.
I have seem better play calling back when I played ELECTRIC FOOTBALL!!!!!!
I am trying to remember if you said you went or not
I am going to The game this weekend .. its on Saturday at 4 i think
Leaves me just enough time to get home for VT vs. Miami

i will look for you if you go on Sat...

PS Donavans better years are far behind him... Hes bad

i still think mcnab is a quality qb. i agree with the others who say that the problem with the eagles is their lack of commitment to the run....

imo, brady & peyton are head & shoulders above all of the rest.....

Mcnabb has zero heart. ZERO. Alot of big stats but all the eagles do is throw so thats a given. In a game where his team leads a lift he dissapears. 6 points at home against an average Jaguar team? Mcnabb has zero heart and thats the only stat that matters.

give him an average defense and he becomes a below average qB. Your seeing it this year. His whole carreer he had a top notch defense clean up many of his mistakes.
