A couple of things come to mind when I think about this. What would happen if Saddam was found not guilty of the charges against him? I have no reason to think this possible, but, what the heck if it happened? Wouldn't THAT put us in a pickle? 'Ol Saddam hops on a plane for Iraq, gets off the plane and says..."take me to the imposter, NOW!"
Secondly, I find it more than a little interesting that the verdict is coming down just before the elections. That's just a minor coincidence? I don't think it's conspiratorial to have big doubts about the integrity of this situation...some might disagree with me. At any rate, here is the story...

Beirut- Former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein's lawyer said Wednesday that her client will "either face the death penalty for crimes against humanity or return to power." "Saddam Hussein will exit jail for one of the two things: either the presidency or the grave," one of Saddam's lawyers, Lebanese Bushra Khalil, told reporters in Beirut four days before an Iraqi court was due to issue a verdict against Saddam Hussein.
"President Saddam Hussein does not fear execution," Khalil told reporters.
"Any death sentence will be very dangerous for Iraq and the region. Any death sentence will be hell for the US army in Iraq," Khalil warned.
"If Saddam is sentenced to death, the defence team will appeal the verdict," she said.
Saddam's defence team has sent a letter to US President George W. Bush warning him of dangerous consequences, if the court issues a verdict against the ousted Iraqi president.
Khalil said the November 5 date for the verdict was a proof that the trial will be used by the Bush administration as "propaganda, for the elections."
